Rosie was at fault for the 1st, although Brucey had him at LM more than LWB so his positioning was poor. Thought he had a very poor game overall which is a rarity. I've been saying that Bruce and Elmo are not good enough footballers to play in the Premier League and yet again this was shown today. I might even play Boyd at LB ahead of Figueroa, SB put him there when Brady came on the other day.
Figueroa is dire. Elmo is easily good enough to play at this level, for a lot of games this season he's been our only attacking outlet in midfield.
**** sorry I meant to put Figs. However, in regards to Elmo tbh I don't rate him. He has no variation in his forward play past taking a big touch and crossing far too early every time. He can't even do a stepover which is pretty poor for a winger and he can't defend at RB.
He's a funny case because he clearly struggles to beat a man but he doesn't really need to. He's great in most situations it's just when we get it out wide and expect him to cross but he gets closed down quickly. In that situation he soemtimes tries cutting inside and sometimes tries going past the defender with raw pace but neither works with any frequency. He's still one of our best players though.
Wouldn't agree that he's one of our best; Davies, Aluko, Hudd, Chezzy, Livermore, Long, Jela, Rosie, McGregor, Meyler all ahead of him IMO
Where are you going to get the millions and sales patter (to bring that quality to Hull, at this stage) that will compensate for all of that bollocks? Elmo has been outstanding as a Hull City AFC player; you criticism is a poor afterthought for a correction-post.
We should go for someone like Bertrand in the summer. Chelsea will surely be contemplating selling him, considering they are after Shaw.
I think other players are compensating - the players are just that - players, but this should have been obvious to the manager yonks ago.
You disappoint me, Macca - I thought you had musical knowledge beyond your tender years...
I have that on my iPod, I was just completely blind to your reference. I'm a bit groggy, only just got back to Huddersfield from London.
I thought he was brilliant last year. This year playing against a much higher standard of full backs the lack of variance in his play has been highlighted. How often does he cut inside and get a shot at goal? How often does he take it to the by-line and get in a whipped low ball that worries defenders and can be directed in by a slight touch? How often does he take on a man without just knocking it ahead of himself? We have top class players in goal, at centre half, in midfield and up front so why shouldn't we push to get that on the wing as well?
Big difference is he plays in the PL this season; so do his team-mates. He has consistently given the team an attacking right-wing option; like I said, to better him you would have to fork out many millions and also convince whoever it was that Hull is the place to go. Are you sure you have this right? Elmo is not a problem for our team.
Figgy has needed a rest for a while. So add this week into the mix and it would be a shock to see him start against the Mackems. I expect a back 3 of Faye Chester and Davies for that one. In saying that, do Sunderland have any fit and decent forwards for the game ? You are wrong as usual. Alex Bruce cost us the first goal by missing a gift 28 seconds earlier. FACT.
Him missing didn't cost us the first goal; had we marked up properly and tracked the runner we wouldn't have conceded. And to Tim Krul's credit, it was some very good goalkeeping. I mean that's like blaming us losing on the fact that Jelavic hit the bar instead of scoring.
Yes it did. If Alex Bruce had scored what followed directly after the miss would not have happened. A blindman would have put that one away and Alex knows he should have scored. In saying that AB has done very well overall this season so far.
