He's been out of form for the last few weeks now and he's really beginning to annoy me on match-days. Today was just appalling from him, and he needs to rested to get his head back in the game.
I'll have to see it on MOTD but the first goal I think he was miles out of position when their larker galloped down the flank before whipping it in. Second goal, say no more. Third goal, even SB named as being partly responsible( along with Alex Bruce, Elo and Thud) for the goal. Not a good day at the office really.
He walks out onto the pitch arms spread as if asking for divine intervention. I think even our lord himself would be struggling to make Figgy look close to a decent footballer at present. He looks spent, his confidence shot and that was before the piss-weak back pass today.
I may be wrong, and that is very very rarely when discussing football, but Meyler and Rosy were at fault for the first. rosy had the man, meyler covered and Rosy instead of passingthe man with the ball onto Meyler stayed with him instead of covering the overlap. Hence a free cross to pick out the man in the box.
He's a liability, has been since before Christmas. No confidence when he's on the ball. Probably my least favourite City player (I'm sure he's devastated).
The team has moved on with pace and commitment up front, something we've always wanted. That means the back four (ish) have to be able to react to the opposition counter-attacking, we're not perfect, but Figs has been found out since we got Long and Jelly (who needs to keep his gob shut!!!). LB is an issue.
The cross was from the by line, any defense is in trouble then. They were a cracking fast attacking team but **** at the back. We just didnt get at them as we should.
Don't agree, Chazz. They broke really well, but our defence should have contained them, as they were neither tricky or gang-handed, just quick. We had chances we should have taken and Figs back-pass cost us dearly; the rest was football. Everything they threw at us was defendable, if not we should follow the camels back south. We had a bad day in every aspect of team performance; the good thing is we all know we are far better than that. Figs though, is a problem.
I dont think we are disagreeing Fez. They contained contained contained and then broke fast. We gifted them two soft goals. We had two far better chances in Jellys and Elmo's but they did dominate the midfield. Their back four were poor though but we dint get at them enough.
I thought up to November he did ok but now is costing us not just today but he often gives free kicks away isn't quick and when at full back he doesn't get forward enough and often bangs it forward and gives the ball away. I think SB will now rest him however if he does play i will continue to back him. Left back is a problem position although Rosie as done well there at times but he isn't a natural left footer and i thought that showed today
I missed the start of the game so wasn't sure of the line up. When the first goal went in I immediately thought it must be Figgy's fault but then saw Rosie out on the left and it confused me. In fact I'm still confused why we played Figgy in a back three with Rosie on the left when we had Chester on the bench? I'd much rather have had Davies, Chester and Bruce in the middle with Figs on the left and Elmo on the right. The balance looked all wrong to me.
Rosie playing there was strange. As a LB he's fine but quite a few times he got in a good crossing position and checked back. Bruce's reluctance to drop Fig in the face of form and formation is concerning.
Rosey was definitely slow to follow him but Figgy was also nowhere. He was trotting over from the right for some reason as the cross came in.
