when we win the FA cup in a few months by defeating Man City at Wembley, will we have Hull City or Hull Tigers written on it?

Isn't it obvious. No sponsor is going to put in that much money and I don't believe a sponsor would want us to change our name. As for "cashing in on the Asian market". Its not going to happen. Clubs such as Man U, Arsenal, Chelsea etc will always be far more popular than us because they have been in the Premier League longer and have a bigger reputation then us. To suggest that changing the name to Tigers will suddenly make Asians love us and pour money into the club is just plain stupid. We have a strong Asian community in this country and I don't see them showing any interest in us. Whatever happens I fear for the future of this club.

I'll admit I haven't read all 106 pages of this thread, being new here, but this is key for me.

When I've visited football mad countries in Asia like Thailand, Malaysia, China, Korea you see kids walking around in Man U and Chelsea shirts aren't wearing them in the because they like the name it's because they want to be associated with the success of those teams (same as loads of kids in the UK). If we want to have a million plastic fans in Asia we need to win a few titles and a couple of Champions leagues not change the name.

Someone a couple of pages above also mentioned the level of debt. Yes the Allams have leant the club a lot of money but at some point someone needs to pay all those millions back. This is not a Jack Walker giving the club money each and every time they're loans at 5%.

I personally think the biggest problem is Allam doesn't realise a football club is more than just a business....renaming Tempest Diesel Limited to Allam Marine didn't alienate the customer base but Allam Tigers might not go down so with the supports of Hull City AFC.

He also puts to much emphasis on the Tiger being the nation's emblem. But, these countries where the Tiger is the national emblem. don't care about football.

India- cricket will never be matched.
Bangladesh- same.
Singapore- other sports dominate.

Exactly. Here in Sweden the national emblem is a Lion but guess how many Milwall shirts you see walking around Stockholm (o:

The kids are all wearing Madrid shirts with Roaldo hair cuts.....

Yet they're quite happy about the change of the name of the region...

In the build-up to the recent game at Selhurst Park we experienced a high volume of interaction on Twitter with fans of the Humberside club.

They then compare the situation to Wimbledon.

Brilliant.

I'd be more impressed if they called on their players to stop being such a dirty bunch of cheating diving ****s tbh seeing as they do more damage to the game than our simple name change will.
