Not because you've not played in Europe this season, so you'd have nothing to compare it to, then?
Sturridge missed a few games and hasn't had to compete for his place in a league that he's always played in.
Trying to compare him to players that've missed most of the season after joining from foreign leagues is nearly as ludicrous as your spending argument, which you swiftly ran away from.

Sturridge doesnt need to compete, he is the best out and out striker in this league and for England this season!

Yes, we're not exactly overloaded in the midfield creativity dept, are we? If he's fit, then he should be an automatic selection for me.
Having endured our last two performances, Holtby's loan is yet another example of whay Tim Sherwood shouldn;t be allowed to have any say in player loans (see also: Ryan Mason to Lorient, Tomislav Gomelt to Royal Antwerp reserves)
With Holtby being loaned out why didn't we recall Little Tommy or Prichard for Europa/cameo duties?
Tommy would've needed to have been registered now as he's over 21, would we have had enough space to fit him in? We must be near if not already at the allocated squad registration amount I'd say.
Carroll turns 22 at the end of the season, so would've fit in with the U21 criteria by a whisker (unlike Ryan Mason, who is 22)
