It does, however, shatter the version the English media were presenting, glossing over the Leeds fans' responsibility for the whole situation in the first place.
Two things Chelsea are doing that I like are closing down hard and leaving a couple of players 10 yards outside the box when they're defending, to intercept the back passes. More teams should do that. Sorry, didn't mean to reply to myself...
Just what Utd didn't do last night sadly. That's the difference when you're confident and motivated. More to do with state of mind than ability.
Chelsea fans have a bit of previous re stabbing, ref: the boozer on the green near Partridge Green Station a few years back. Unfortunately the guys who got it tonight probably weren't those who caused the Partridge Green aggro. However, I wouldn't be surprised if the Chelsea fans started it, there is still a hooligan element there that when given a chance will overstep they mark.
The confidence seems to be more in the team than anything else. Players close down when they're convinced everyone else will do their job. If they don't, they may feel they'd be smarter getting back and they certainly don't feel like running hard. Galatasary equalizes a minute after hitting the post. Poor from Cech.
The shalke v RM game has had some cracking goals. Huntelaar has scored the best of the night. A volley from about 20 yards with a lot of venom. Only a consolation though, as RM have just won 6-1.
...can anyone believe this http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/26362194 Jeez, give the guy a chance to work without interference already!
I'm so pleased at what is going on at Fulham, Cardiff and West Brom. Not because i dislike either team or fans but purely because it makes Spurs seem a teeny tiny bit less nutty.
Nope. I know an ex-Man Utd season ticket holder and he had to give it up because he lives in London and they were forcing them to buy tickets for all of their home cup games. He wasn't prepared to pay for a bunch of tickets that he'd never use, so he binned it. You have to buy them for all FA Cup and Champions League ties, IIRC, so the letter must be to someone that's blocked payment. ****ty way to treat your fans, isn't it?
RVP complains about his teammates getting in his way. Was he talking about the Olympiakos game, or was he talking about wanting to be the first player to leave the club this summer?
Anelka given a five-game ban and £80k fine for the quenelle gesture. Peter Herbert and David Baddiel still quiet on the matter.
The Welsh gave it a decent go, but Napoli are a good team with an extremely experienced European coach and some excellent individual players. No shame in getting knocked out by them, especially after their unlucky departure from the Champions League. Shouldn't be in this competition, of course, but that's a different story.
"Peter Herbert and David Baddiel still quiet on the matter." If the press print a negative of Anelka doing the gesture, Herbert should bite.
