Yes it was poor from Dover.

As for Jimmy, he was 28 when that happened so the top league ship had already sailed. He might well have done early on, Gillingham were just about to get their claws in, but he copped an ankle injury the week before he was due to go and play in a trial game. It was a niggly bastard which dogged him for a couple of seasons, so they didn't come back. Brentford looked at him, so did Charlton. He stayed very local in the end, as he didn't learn to drive till late 20's, so training was always an early issue. He retired season before last.
