If you prefer the goons to win then there will come a point where you want them to win games, a few fans on here have openly admitted they find themselves wanting the goons to win games.

Personal choice of course but I personally don't have a issue with clubs like the chavs or city being taken over by super rich owners as I know there is a chance in the future it will happen to us and the fans who have a problem with City and Chelsea, will soon change their opinion and enjoy getting success, even if it's because we're a plaything.

Anyhow if you or anyone wants to respect the Gooners then no issue but preferring or wanting them to win is taking it a bit further and there should never be a reason to want the goons to win.

........... Our rivals Everton are away to Chelsea. Liverpool at home to Swansea.

Chance to make it a two horse race for 4th but if we draw or lose and Liverpool win, are there enough games to catch them? Sherwood says we can lose four more games, he may be right, but that still depends on the form of Liverpool.
 
The difference may come down to Liverpool having two regular goal scorers while we have just one (until his mind gets changed!)
 
As March has reams of "six pointer" games between the top 7, we'll know the
real situation by Apr 1st. Spurs will either still be in the mix, or well out of it, by then.

Agree. If we are in the mix, we have a kind run-in. So just need to hold on to the coat tails. Could be Arsenal and Liverpool we are chasing by then.
 
The Goons are most dangerous when they're behind the top 4 and in real
danger of losing their CL slot. When they are lauded as PL contenders etc,
they always seem to really collapse come Springtime (2009-10 etc) .

Closing the gap to them is what Spurs should focus on.

If it comes down to the last game of the season where Arsenal need a win to prevent Chelsea or City taking the title then yes, I will want them to win. Because in the end some things matter more to me than our local rivalry. Ethics, morals, fairness, things like that. That's my personal choice.

I really hope it never does happen to us, that would ruin it for me. I know that there are plenty of fans who would have absolutely no problem changing from "Chelsea bought their trophies" one day to lording it over the gooners the next if we did the same. I'm not one of them. There's no glory in doing it that way.

Anyway, that's the last I'm going to say on this subject because it's obviously a very touchy one and we're never going to agree. <peacedove>

Smithy, based on how accurate your predictions are, would you mind saying that there is absolutely no chance of Soldado coming good this season, please.....
 
Do you know,I had the choice of watching Monaco or a Scottish game today.I plumped for the French game. I used to follow Scottish football once upon a time but I honestly think it's rubbish now,especially with Rangers kicked downstairs and Celtic winning most games!

Pretty much sums up Rooneys own ambitions as well.... If he had any serious intent to prove himself at the top level he would have moved to a top team. Settling for a fortune at a club in decline just shows him as a mercenary - or that no other club at the top level was in the hunt for his services.

Remember how Rooney publicly dictated terms of his last contract in 2010, which usually had him making veiled references to Man City, doubling his wages in the process? I was genuinely amazed that Ferguson didn't throw down the gauntlet and bench him for several weeks, or habitually substitute him within the first half hour of games, to remind him who was in charge. John Terry pulled a very similar stunt at the time as well.

With this new deal, several players are going to be unhappy - RVP chief among them.

Actually, if you want to be pedantic, we have 3 regular premier league scorers. Gerrard has 7 goals this season, just 1 goal less than your top scorer. <ok> #dontforgetsteviegespeciallyifyoureadj
 
Jeez!...£300,000 p.w.! That's over £15mil per year. Over 5 years that's £75mil! He's a good player, but surely Utd must be desperate to pay that much to keep him!...

Well look at this way, what's more likey to get them success, spend 15 million a year on NEW STRIKER or have Rooney at the club for 15 million a year?

Or they could lose Rooney and spend 30-40 million on a replacement, his wages will be 100-200kpw.

The wages are bordering on insane but Rooney is proven, a great premier league player and when you look at the money paid on fees for Fellani, Soldado, Lamela, Willian, then it makes more sense to hand big contacts to players you know will perform.
