Yeah, I see your point, but 5 years! He'll be almost 34. How good will he be then? It also makes him the highest paid player in the Prem, apparently. I'm sure one or two of City & Chavski's Prima donas will have the hump about that.

    <laugh>

Which "top level" would he need to prove himself at?

Highest paid, but not the best player <confused>, marvelous bit 'o' work from Rooneys agent! and another shocking decision at OT imo.

  4. Rooney now has the "Beckham" factor, where his name is worth more than the goals he scores. Be in no doubt that he will be among the biggest stars at the World Cup, no matter how badly he plays.

Well, how many games has he missed injured?
Does the club get a rebate?

Making a rod for their own back. The next 'big player' will want more than Rooney. The GP's in Manchester will be celebrating though. (GP = Geriatric Prostitute)

I was just thinking the Everton-Chelsea game comes along at a very convenient time for us. It's either a big win (Chelsea losing in and of itself, plus a team seven points ahead losing) a big win (the next team back dropping five points behind while even on games) or a big win (Chelsea and the next team back dropping points).

Of course I'll be pulling for Everton.

I'll be pulling for Everton because they are a decent team that play good football and deserve Europe far more than a team that has simply bought success. How different the league would be (and have been over the past few seasons) if you removed the money from Man City and Chelski! It would be Spurs and Everton who would have had a very good chance of CL football every year.

i reckon a draw between Chelsea and Everton is the best result for us today.

We should beat Norwich tomorrow. It's another one of those games where 2 points dropped for both Chelsea and Everton really helps us. If we win, Everton go 2 points further behind us, which gives us a cushion with their game in hand. And Chelsea will only be 5 points ahead of us. With Liverpool's form, we need that pack at the top to be as tight as possible, so we're not just relying on 1 team to slip up.

  12. He's 28, allegedly in his prime, yet happy to stay put at United where his chances of challenging for top honours appears to be diminishing. He is proven at PL level, granted, but on a world stage? Being the 'best English' forward is hardly the greatest accolade and he has arguably failed to perform on the highest of those stages - World Cups.
I would suggest that if he had ambition he would be looking for a move to Madrid, Barca or maybe even Milan to test his abilities - but as suggested elsewhere, maybe he was not in such demand too far from Salford!!

Utd, rather naively in my view, have made their desperation to keep him plainly obvious for some time now. I suppose you can hardly blame his agent for screwing them for every last penny he could get, in the circumstances.

Apart from Mourinho, it may have been interesting to see if there was any other interest. I have a feeling it may have been minimal.

    He's no Ribery, after all.

He may think the hookers will be too young and pretty.

Right. That and that I hate Chelsea's owner.

The announcer was rhapsodizing about a passage of Everton play around the 12 minute mark, and rightly so. Very, very nice. How badly do they need Lukaku, or someone else who can finish? With Lukaku, I think they would have had at least a draw against us, and a goal lead against Chelsea.

Whereas Ribery's actually was too young and pretty! <laugh>

Everton have started really well at Stamford Bridge. Playing the ball around well, keeping possession but actually looking to hurt Chelsea with it, rather than just hold them at bay and having the odd sniff at goal, too.
Martinez is doing a very good job, but it has a sense of their game at WHL, where they started well on top and didn't take advantage of it.

I wonder if Rooney looks at pictures of Ribery's hooker and thinks, "I wonder if she has a gran?"

Mirallas the weak link so far. Ruined a couple of moves and got caught offsides in acres of space and the two feet he gained weren't going to help him at all.

Just miskicked his second great chance. Oooof.

She'd probably still be a little young for him, I'm afraid.

He's been surprisingly poor, hasn't he? Nowhere near consistent enough at the moment. Looks great in patches, but doesn't do it often enough. Very off today.

 A little expensive, too. Rooney seems to have a keen eye for the main chance.

I haven't watched Mirallas closely enough to have an opinion of him till today. So all I can say is that today he's been awful.
