I picked other - simply put he should start in Europa as long as we're in it and he's fit. Other than that its bench, reserve games, and pray to Jehoshaphat that in pre-season & next year he becomes the player we cannot afford to drop...
Other teams integrate new, young players into their teams. Its a fairly normal thing to do. The only guarantee is he won't integrate into the team from the bench
That's fine if you are only trying to integrate one player. If you have several there is no reasons to prioritise one who in many ways has offered less than any other of our recent signings. It sends out the wrong message to the other players who may deserve their place on greater merit. Again you're wanting to play the player we think he should be rather than the player he appears to be, and we can't afford to waste any time getting him up to speed, the league is likely to be too close for that, although in an ideal world and with more time I may think differently.
How do you solve a problem like Lamela? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M1HwVmY28Pk Heâs on the bench, heâs looking tense, He's lucky to be there. He waltzes on his way to shoot And kicks a piece of air! And underneath his new Spurs shirt Thereâs a player lurking there! [I even heard heâs very good in training...] He never starts, comes on as sub - His reputationâs gold! He's always up for everything Except in front of goal! I hate to have to say it But this view I firmly hold: Lamelaâs not a new star in the making! [I'd like to say a word in his behalf - Soldado makes me laugh!] Chorus: How do you solve a problem like Lamela? How do you make us glad that heâs around? How do you find a way to use Lamela? A flibbertijibbet! A will-o'-the wisp! A clown! Many a fan will say we ought to sell him; Many a fan says he should go on loan. So how do you make it work And make him not look a jerk? How long before we tell him to go home?
Just out of interest: Where did you get that figure and why do you think it's more trustworthy than the 30m figure that's bandied about? It seems like transfer fees are very difficult to pin down nowadays and if you have a good source for these figures that'd be interesting.
I assumed the fee was 32 million going by reports but that's likey to be future add ons and the base fee could be 24 million and then depending on if he plays, add ons kick in which could explain why he's not featuring!
http://www.theguardian.com/football/2013/aug/28/erik-lamela-joins-tottenham-roma The guardian list it as 25.8 which is 30 million in euros The BBC http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/23903926 Say 25.7 What's a 100 grand between friends.

Ah! THOSE obscure news sources! So basically lots of people have just taken to adding on the potential bonus payments on as standard. Got it. Thanks.
