He still took a title off Pep's Barca, had a very good el classico record and reached 2 or 3 C.L semi finals (cant remember for sure), losing 1 on pens. Hardly a massive failure. Moyes would kill for that kind of record!

I'm not saying he had no success at Madrid, he did ok with the most expensive group of players in world football for his first couple of seasons, but he lost the dressing room in his 3rd season there, and was forced to quit or be sacked.

Mourinho is a maverick, and his approach works a lot of the time, but sometimes you need to be a little more tactful about how you do things. Mourinho was stupid enough to think he could bully the stalwarts of the Madrid dressing room into behaving in the same un sporting way that he does towards opponents, despite none of them being comfortable with it. It all backfired on him in his last season, with the players not wanting to play for him. Hence them finishing miles behind Barca in the league, and ending the season trophiless:biggrin:

Who are the 2 best teams that have visited the Etihad this season? I think you know the answer to that.

Using our shambles of a side this season, who also played a 442 there, doesn't really prove anything. When they have come up against quality sides playing a 451 they've come unstuck, as they've been able to take advantage of the extra man.

They also played with 2 big target men against Chelsea, had they had Aguero he would have probably dropped in abit and helped his side gain abit more control in midfield. If they go 442 with Dzeko and Negredo up front in the Champions League they will get torn apart.

SAF used to play a 442 domestically against most sides, but he learnt over the years that you had to play a 451 against the best teams in Europe. Think back to the last time a team won the Champions League playing a 442. football has evolved since then

The only two teams that beat them this season are both better sides than them. No shame in losing to the best!!!

Bayern are better, but they shouldn't be completely bossing City in there own ground, whilst IMO City have a slightly better group of players than Chelsea. Defence and midfield is about equal, but City have better strikers:biggrin:

6 points out of 6 suggests otherwise :1980_boogie_down:

Didn't Basle get 6 points off Chelsea in the Champions League group stages

They have a great recent record in Europe v English clubs. Knocked United and spurs out.

Only English team to eliminate them in Europe were Chelsea under Rafa,
And we were lucky.

Fortunately when they beat us in CL this season, we topped our group so it did not matter.
We are buying their best players now so you should
Have a chance against them next time <ok>

Ok, to sum up.

No one knows or cares whether Moyes should have some coaching help but Pep may or may not be better than Jose but both are better than Man City, many of whom think should have lost to Liverpool.

Thanks for clearing that up. <ok>
