Shola just didn't look interested today. The Mackemslayer days are well and truly gone.

He didn't break sweat and didn't look as if he intended to.

He has neve broke sweat.....How he has made a living in the top flight is beyond me,****ing disgrace.

It's actually quite rediculous that the only two players we can actually call strikers are both only on loan until the end of the season....good one JK

Well I think it's bizarre and unfortunate. I don't know how loanee players are supposed to buy into a club's longer-term future or even integrate themselves as much as they should with one eye on the door.

Frankly the loan system and most people's snobbery toward it is largely misguided though – until they scrap the system it does make a lot of sense for virtually all parties.
Let's face it, ALL players are never owned they are rented for the period of a contract or until bought by the next team.

The biggest difficulty we face is persuading them to sign a contract if they do well enough to earn one, which I can't see us doing.

We've still not replaced Demba Ba so how confident is everyone we'll be able to adequately replace Remy, De Jong, Shola AND Cisse in the summer?

Ha Way man Lads, Older ones remember Bobby Sinton, Billy Ashcroft, Tony Cunningham et al…thats your famous No9 Shirt the rest of football laughs at you about. Shola is better than the norm for you , <wah>

Booby Sinton - top scorer on 7 goals! Yes we have had far worse, and he's had some great moments, but it doesn't change the fact his time is up now. Personally, I hope he gets selected for the World Cup and then retires on a high.

Yer still well clear of us and all people will see end of season in 5 years is you 8th and s 16th, cheer up man, you are only 3 players from being a top team, F*k me, you lot are hard to please, try supporting us !

What goes round, comes round. Let's face it; the "mackemslayer" thing was really more a dig at us for letting a donkey score regularly than a genuine compliment to him. I personally can't explain it, because he's been pretty bad for as long as I can remember.

To put it into context.. would JFK sign him now... oh wait..

ok.... would the average prem manager sign him now?.. nope.

Championship at best.

Sad, but so, so true.

Whenever I picture Shola leaving the club I can't help but cry. He's a local lad living the dream, on his day (February 29th) he's a cracking player and his hold up play has been great up until recently. Now he's a squad player, ravaged by injuries and scared of hurting himself again but still in love with his club. He can see his career slowly dying but the thought of his baby bro feeling the same joy the club and his fans has given him over the years, it keeps him going, just. We know there's Nigerian mixed with that black and white blood so I'm sure he's at least 40.

He gave his heart to this club, even when many mocked him for his modest footballing abilities and you just know that if he's not offered some sort of position here when he retires that his bloated corpse will be found in the river Tyne. I'm making no illusion that he was a great player, he has been a 'good' player, fortunate that we have experienced a number of injury crises during his stay here. In terms of our playing squad, no, his loss will not be felt but we all know that as a community club, it's never easy to see a true Geordie (a one-club man at that) go. He is 100%, undoubtedly, OURS.

Right now, his contract running out, his legs stiffening and his chances becoming fewer and fewer, it reminds me of that scene in Short Circuit 2. A broken down Johnny 5, bits falling off him, fluids dripping onto the road, chasing down the evil Oscar and trying to do what is right even as his body is failing him. Sparks flying, a feeling of futility as his target speeds away on a boat and every move makes him wince in pain, Jonny still carries on, Bonnie Tyler blasting as a soundtrack and everyone wanting him to succeed.

That is how I see Shola, so let us as fans support him, just as that industrial crane supported Jonny 5 as he swooped onto the boat to seize Oscar, in achieving his dream, of retiring happily with his boyhood club and staying here forever. We will chant his name until he's given a new contract, or else the heart of this club will die.

It shows even to the most incomprehensible and deluded fans just how **** our Club Is when the likey of ameobi can survive over a decade as a premier League striker.
