  2. I don't agree that its a argument for us to take up. I think its between player and club as that's the two parties that signed the contract.

Not allowing the player to leave despite a release clause being met is clearly illegal <ok>

Revenge is a dish best served cold. I can't see John Henry pursuing this Ukrainian owner through the courts. But it will be interesting to see what happens the next time the Ukrainian tries to buy new players in Europe. Don't be surprised to see us supposedly active for players we've never heard about if only to push the price up.

We wanted to sign the player, we met the price and criteria for the deal, if we took them to the court for sports arbitration we'd get the player and his club would be heavily sanctioned, that is our clubs argument.<ok>

  5. The player would have an argument that the club had failed to live up to the terms of the contract making him a free agent.

Maybe you're right, I certainly don't have an argument against it so maybe both parties could do it if they chose to?

Won't happen though. only thing that will happen is the plank getting a big pay rise.

If the unthinkable happens and Kono does somehow become a free agent say tomorrow for example. Would we be able to sign him on a free as free transfers are not in the same law as normal transfers regarding a window. I'm pretty sure you can do free transfers any time in the year?

  8. Yes but no way would it be tomorrow. Maybe sometime towards the end of Feb if he's lucky <ok>

Not sure it the courts would say the Ukrainians would have to let him join us for the agreed fee. Would there be some sort of special one off permission for the deal to go through?

I know was just giving a date outside the transfer window. I really don't want to get my hopes up, but if Karma is real, now is the perfect time for it to make its presence known lol.

Actually yes I do. I'm old fashioned mate. My gut instinct is you can put in checks and balances, delegate out expertise but someone should be in charge.

Now some say that's the owner, but the owner doesn't get sacked.

In the English game, if results go bad. It won't be the 'committee' that gets the sack, at least publicly. It'll be the manager. It's the manager that gets the flack even if he doesn't get sacked. Now you can say he signed up so tough and that's a fair point.

In my line of work I've seen too many times where money and time (yours and mine) has been wasted in committee meetings, with no decision made (other than to arrange another meeting) because everyone involved knows they'll not feel the glare if it goes wrong while they wait.

Sometimes it needs to be balls forward. No one successful kept asking the 4 people found them......

He's Abramovich's gangster oil baron mate so he'd probably put a hit out on poor little Ayre if we sue them.<yikes>

  17. Working for a local charity, we often get small pots of money from the local councillors to put activities on. Things like small concerts for locals to enjoy. With how health and safety as gone in the last couple of years, somethings such as organising parades for events have become near on impossible. The amount of pressure I get put under from said councillors when I say something like said parade isn't going to be possible is unbelievable but its comes down to responsibility; me and my organisation would be the ones that face the flack should things go wrong, the councillors applying pressure would even be considering <doh>

  18. The quote was more along the lines of "I know, sue me" in response to one of his workers or a member of the media (I don't know) pointing out that the release clause being met.

If he's right then fair play to him for standing up to us. We did the same with Suarez. But it doesn't sound like that is the case.

Think he would more likely say that when he knew he was in the wrong but also gambled that you wouldn't even try and sue him - well not in Ukraine at least.

Then you are of the same make as me  in football terms committees may work but the manager should be able to say "i want/need a left back, i would like him, him or him. If they are not available i will make do untill next window" and that is how the committee should work, chasing the managers targets.
