Hello from Valencia. Managed to get tickets for Barcelona v Valencia on Saturday at the Nou Camp. Hope it's not too cold in England.

Exactly, no way is she going to go back, she's just going to have to limit her holiday options. The US won't deport as the Fifth Amendment protects against double jeopardy, so the US courts won't recognise the new verdict. For the record I also think she is guilty.

Edit : Just had a read of an extradition expert's views who reckons the Italians have a chance of getting her, this could get interesting.

I do find it mildly amusing that by disappearing to that independent [but SKY advertising at every opportunity] talkSport radio station for a few years, these guys, and those who advise them, think they've paid their dues.

If they actually said something along the lines of... yes, we f****d up good and proper, treating our female colleagues as nothing more than skirt that we drooled over [Keys could have his own specific presenter's version], and we have since educated ourselves in humanity and respect... then they might be considered to have gone some way to have outgrown their 1950's era maleness.

No doubt, there will be men and women literally fidgeting in their seats, waiting for their first appearance.

What do you think of the Hospice/Hospital? Three in a bed when your unwell doesn't appeal to me but if your a poor peasant I suppose it is just fine.

I liked going around the wine cellars tasting the wine.

Lovely town with a fascinating history.

They should be made to listen to Woman's Hour on Radio4 every weekday morning for the rest of their lives.

I know that sounds very cruel but I've had to listen to it for nearly fifty years with my only refuge being going to work.

No, that would definitely be classed as "cruel and unusual" punishment. I can generally only manage three minutes before shouting at the radio. Fortunately Mrs Onionman is just the same so I don't have to tolerate the tedious misandrist diarrhoea that they output.

    I really don't know.

At first it seemed easy to blame a foreigner who looks sweet and innocent and therefore must be a murderer. Then the Italian cops made a total mess of the investigation. I'm not sure I trust the new verdict either. Is the boyfriend guilty? He always looked suspect.

I am basing this entirely on looks.

No idea on the Knox case, but taking away the fact it was of course a hideous crime, it's a fascinating case. Nobody seems to doubt the guilt of Rudy Guede (sp?) in all this - that seems to be a given. I might spend some time reading up on it properly, but then finding genuinely unbiased reports seems to be a trial....

    badum tish!

I did follow it for a while. There was stacks of evidence implicating Rudy Guede. He was also a convicted burglar and drug dealer (not sure if he had any more serious convictions) who lied throughout the case, so his testimony against the other two can't have been taken into account in their new convictions. I can only assume that new evidence has come to light, and the cops didn't bungle it this time.

Without being drawn into what happened, I think I remember reading that it is down to disputed DNA evidence. The original trial ruled it in, then the appeal judge ruled it out, but that appeal was overturned and it was included again (or something like that). So now they will appeal to the higher court which will decide, I assume. Where Guede comes into all this I do not know. This seems to be a decent summary - http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-15000651

Italian courts work a bit differently and even if sentenced to jail you can stay out if you are appealing (ask Berlusconi).
