Well, reading the link Silkship gave us, they say that Schalke's move for him failed because they wanted him on loan and Spurs wanted to sell him. If that's the case, maybe it will be a permanent move to us as part of a bigger deal involving Berba. It's all guesswork, of course, but things are certainly getting interesting now.

Ooh don't, Captain, you big tease! My nipples explode with ze delight! Quick, TMHAF, Fulhaman, Madness, I need you to tell me he's **** before I get overexcited!

:)

If we we're reportedly offering around 6 million for Defour, it's not inconceivable that we can afford Holtby on a permanent deal, especially if Berba is thrown into the equation.

It could well be some internet-nerd jumping the gun, but the Wikipedia page for Olympiakos no longer has Mitroglou listed in their current squad. He was number 11. His individual page still lists him as an Olympiakos player though.

I like the sound of 'Pistolero' as a nickname for him though.

Although it is often correct and I have used it myself as a reference point, Wikipedia is highly unreliable. Myself or yourself could edit it. I once randomly clicked onto Darren Bent's page and the first line said "Darren Bent is a sh*t English footballer......", the rest of the article was perfect though.

As Sarah Brookes said on twitter, unless the club announces it on their website or their twitter page nothing is official. I think many will spend tonight and tomorrow on the Fulham site constantly pressing F5.

Mitroglou Let's see if he passes the medical he's only just come back after 6 weeks from a knee injury, so I hope we don't panic and buy him just to get someone in as he could be the replacement IF Berbatov is off as Danny Murphy hinted there might be a move by a club for him this morning on Radio. Personally I wouldn't pay the amount being asked, his reputation sounds good but he only came to peoples attention because of his of his performance against Romania in the playoffs.
Taarabt might have gone to AC Milan so Holtby might be his replacement. You would think Kvist is a replacement for Boateng (who is probably off on Loan).

The price is a bit excessive, but that's the Jan transfer window for you! And as the Captain touched on in another (this?) thread, you would think Mitroglou had been scouted out a long time ago. We may not have known of him until the WC playoffs (I certainly didn't!) by our scouts/Rene probably did.

An update from Twitter:

@HammyEnd: Looks like Holtby will join on loan until the end of the season - no option to buy - with reports he's completed his medical. What a coup.

Bent is off to Stoke, potentially.
Berbatov to Spurs.

Happy days although I thought Bent has done alright.

I'm not trying to be too negative but the Southampton board have a January transfer thread with 1213 responses. We are on 431!

£12.5 million might be over the top but it's January and if he helps keep us up it will be worth about £60 mill to us!

I hope Holtby and Mitroglu are confirmed tomorrow but would still like a left back, think we should go back in for Taylor at Swansea

Tunicliffe is a left back who has apparently done well in the championship on loan, as far as I'm concerned straight into the first team, he's young so will be at least three times quicker than Riise.

Not exactly true, I wouldn't claim to have the broadest knowledge of players outside of the UK but even I knew of Mitroglou. We're not signing a nobody.

Leaves us with Hugo and Mitroglou (hopefully). Bit light up top to say the least!

Woodrow, Tankovic and Dembele are here too.

Quality not quantity.

Tunnicliffe is definitely a midfielder.
