Reported tonight that West Ham are trying to highjack the Mitroglou signing according to some report on Sky sport.

Whoosh! They'll still be well short in cash even if Diame goes. Surprised Morrison is not mentioned. That and a question why Mr 'quiet till the last minute' Levy and Allardyce would reveal their hands, makes me wonder about the story.

    Nervy Friday nonetheless.

True and I can't see why Mitroglou would choose West Ham over us. What can they offer that we can't? We have the Karagounis trump card.

It does feel all too familiar though.

It reminds me of when Newcastle tried to nick Ruiz at the 11th hour. Hold on tight!

Which makes the club's policy of secrecy even more appreciated!

Btw, Kara is green in his heart which means supports Panathinaikos while Mitroglou is red (Olympiakos). Panathinaikos has a more fulhamish approach. The dirty reds are like chelski...

Blimey, you're a dark horse aren't you! I have to say, I know precisely ****-all about Greek football apart from the fact that Panathinaikos, Olympiakos, PAOK Salonika and AEK Athens exist!

Yes and they might have found something.

But Fulham medicals are quite tough anyway!

How much do you think we can squeeze of our Levy for Berba? He's going to have a strong hand - last minute move, player out of contract at the end of the season, player wants to move, Fulham don't want him and could do with getting wages off the payroll. We'll be lucky to get a tenner for him.

Or, in the case of Andy Johnson, several weeks.

I've just realised that I saw Tunnicliffe play for Ipswich against Bournemouth over Christmas - the same game that I reported Cresswell was unimpressive in. I wasn't specifically looking at Tunnicliffe, but he definitely played as one of three central midfielders and looked all right without being exceptional. He was reasonably combative as well. That was the game where Bournemouth's diminutive midfielder Eunan O'Kane made a big impression on me. Tunnicliffe, like the other midfielders that day, was overshadowed by O'Kane but he didn't look bad.

This has just appeared on the BBC deadline day live text:

"Fulham are exploring the possibility of signing Everton defender John Heitinga. Cottagers boss Rene Meulensteen has identified fellow Dutchman Heitinga as his preferred signing to replace Aaron Hughes if the 34-year-old Northern Ireland international moves to QPR.

"Meanwhile, Fulham hope to complete the signing of Germany midfielder Lewis Holtby on loan from Tottenham for the rest of the season and the west London club are also working on deals to recruit Manchester United midfielders Ryan Tunnicliffe and Larnell Cole, both of whom were coached by Meulensteen during his time at Old Trafford.

"However, their hopes of signing Olympiakos striker Kostas Mitroglou are in the balance after West Ham lodged a more lucrative offer to the Greece international."

That would be the answer to why he'd choose West Ham over us: 'a more lucrative offer'. To be fair, it doesn't say whether Mitroglou or Olympiakos would be the ones to benefit from West Ham's largesse.
