Our 4 biggest targets of the window look like this at the moment.
Defour: The deal appears to be off as Porto have sold Lucho and now want to keep hold of Defour.
Taylor: Swansea won't sell him as he is there only back up left back.
Moore: Leicester are top of the Championship and don't want to lose their key player. Also he came off in the 9th minute today with an injury which could scupper any potential deals anyway.
Morrisson: West ham don't want to sell him to us, especially after allegedly ''tapping him up''.

I'm not sure about you guys but I'm very worried we'll be left with the same, or an even worse squad come February.

I don't like to make any judgements until 1st Feb. All the deals seem to go through in the last few days, and if anything at least we've tried!

I read today that Ings asking price is 7mil quite a lot of money for someone untried at the highest level,
but saying that there are factors which could be favourable in sustaining our interest, Age, Scoring ability & injury free,
i am sure a deal could be done at around the 5m mark with future add ons, considering we spent 10m + each on our 3 greatest failures
Ruiz Marlet & Johnson, a punt here at about the above price would not be to great a risk

I've been telling Captain for ages that Danny Ings is the answer to our prayers ;-)

On the subject of Ings, I'll post this again. It will be nice to have a striker who isn't a selfish knob!

ooh. Sergio looks like he'd be a good addition. It's likely an over-generalization, but I think players from SerieA and La Liga are generally more technical than players from other leagues, and we could certainly use some poise on the ball.

    From Sky
Fulham are now unlikely to sign Belgium midfielder Steven Defour from Porto. The 25-year-old's agent has been quoted in the Belgian media as saying that his client will now stay with the Portuguese club as they have allowed Argentina international Lucho Gonzalez to join Qatari club Al Rayyan SC. Paul Stefani said:

Now Lucho's gone, Steven has to grab his chance as Lucho was the one blocking him. Steven was keen on joining Fulham. A few days ago, he even called Rene Meulensteen to discuss a transfer. He really wanted to move to Craven Cottage, where he could sign for three-and-a-half years with an option.

    The latest:
The German press has linked Fulham with a number of players. According to Rheinpfalz, they are considering a swoop for highly-rated Kaiserslautern striker Simon Zoller, who has been in superb form in Bundesliga 2 this season. Express also reports that Cologne duo Kevin Wimmer and Yannick Gerhardt have attracted the attention of the Cottagers.

    Not much information on them...

Yup, and Liam Moore fractured some ribs at the weekend so any follow-up on our two unsuccessful bids is unlikely now.

It is not only a matter of luck. It is a matter of putting things down with the risk and taking a decision. Were there rumours for Lucho moving? If so then we should have factored that in our strategy of bidding for Defour.

Similar with Leicester. We can't get their first team players while they are fighting for promotion.

What can change our prospects in the transfer market is a result against Swansea. A victory will show that we mean business. Even a point will be a positive statement.

The clubs policy on transfers when asked should be " no comment" then none of us fans
    are dissapointed when nothing happens.

I'm not keen on our lowballing bids too. Yes, I want us to get value and not overpay, but for one it slows things up and secondly it shows a lack of ambition to players.

It's no surprise we are where we are - this table shows our spending relative to other teams. Not only did we spend far less than clubs I would consider competitors, but we were in need of a rebuild already. It's not the managers fault what happened in the summer, and probably not his if we don't get talent in this window but somebody (Khan for me) needs to pull their finger out and realise that in the context of the PL we need to put the money down to get the talent in.

Too many players in our team are rejects from others, mainly clubs in or around our position. The academy won't bear fruit for a good few years yet- we're seeing the players who developed before we got the category A status. When a player is free it should signal something to the club, one or two is fine to plug gaps, but a good chunk of our team are free transfers and loans and to me that spells relegation.

Even Norwich spent £23m - £14m than us.

I refer to this post I made about 10 days ago. Unfortunately nothing has happened yet to prove this view wrong. I sincerely hope it does and you can serve me a huge slice of humble pie to eat, which I will gladly do, but it isn't looking too hopeful.

    This.

Rivals in the currrent relegation battle, Cardiff and West Ham, have also now made firm moves. Cardiff bringing in Zaha, Fabio and Jones. With West Ham completing a couple of loan signings, including a midfielder, wonder if we'll be back for Ravel Morrison?

"Sam Allardyce is pleased to completed loan deals for Milan midfielder Antonio Nocerino and Roma striker Marco Borriello."

Someone like Tom Ince would be a great signing for us. It would be slightly concerning if teams like Palace start buying better quality players than us in the Jan window (that's if we sign anyone at all)!

@SkyBet: Update: #Swans have drifted to 5/6 favs to sign Tom Ince with Palace 3/1 (from 20/1) and #LFC into 11/4 from 33/1. http://t.co/GNoy8smRcI

I'm hearing rumours that we've made a £9m bid for Olympiakos striker Kostas Mitroglou. It would be a great signing if it came off but I just can't see it happening. Would anyone in their right mind give up Champions League knock-out football for a relegation scrap, one month after signing a new deal? You've got to admire the clubs optimism.
