Please Hughton use your Tottenham connections and get us Sigurdsson or Holtby. They would fit the bill perfectly.
I think I've seen that too. On the plus side, Ruiz is now a confirmed PSV player, so Toivonen is free to leave. He'll probably go to Besiktas though...
Thorgan Hazard maturing nicely (26 Games, 10 Goals, 12 Assists)...could be worth a cheeky loan bid this summer? I'll trott out a few of our favourite names for rumours: Naughton, Rhodes, Bridcutt and Shola Ameobi. We need one player this window, namely a top-quality CB.
Chelsea seem more happy to loan people abroad than to the Premier League. Whether that's because they aren't good enough for the Premier League, or they prefer that they develop out of the spotlight, I don't know. Personally I'd have thought that using those players to try and take points off their rivals in the league was more beneficial, but there we go. Thorgan Hazard is an interesting one, I believe Eden believes he's a better natural talent than he is, but doesn't have the work ethic. There's actually a third brother who's meant to be even better, but has got absolutely no interest in playing and apparently would get bored and wander off the pitch mid-match! I don't think Bridcutt will move in January now Crofts is injured. If Sunderland and the chance to link up with Poyet again doesn't do it, nobody else will.

Anyone mentioned the link to Danny Guthrie? IMO I don't think he'd add much - a very good Championship player, but has never really made his mark in the Premier League so I don't think he's the answer to our creativity and passing woes.
Long to the Tigers seems almost a done deal - will he start alongside Jelavic on Saturday we wonder ?
Could be lazy journalism I guess, but then again, did Guthrie play under Hughton at all at Newcastle?
Yeah he played under Hughton - his best spell was in the Championship. I seem to remember we were linked with him before he joined Reading.
Here's a link to that Guthrie story, http://www.sportsdirectnews.com/norwich-city-fc-transfer-news/38461-reading-midfielder-on-canaries-radar.php#.UtezFvRdWAU Can anyone tell me if he is any good? I am assuming he is either loyal so wanted to stay with reading or not good enough for anyone to tempt away?
Like Rob said, he's a very good Championship-level midfielder. Never properly proved himself in the Prem though. A mate of mine described him as "a sh*t Joey Barton". Ahem.
i saw guthrie play a few weeks back, he was ok, a bit like huddlestone but not as good, playing in a quarterback type position. i don't think he would be a huge improvement on what we already have. Re Long, not a bad signing for Hull, i guess it's doubtful if he will be registered in time for the game on saturday, unless it all goes through today.
I was quite keen for us to sign him at the beginning of last summer, when Reading got him, but only in the form of giving our squad a bit of depth as he was on a free transfer. As it is, I certainly wouldn't want to pay much for him and wouldn't view him as a guaranteed starter, which, tbh, is the sort of midfielder we need to sign now.
I don't know much about Guthrie but if his playing style is similar to Huddlestone then I would definitely welcome him on board.
I could see there being something in this to be honest. He's not good enough to dramatically improve our midfield, which is what we need, but we're short of options in midfield, so I could see him brought in as cover/competition, with Fox being sold.
