I've a strong feeling there's a moral to be drawn here, but I can't quite put my typing finger on it ........
All roads eventually lead to Villa Park, it seems! http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/aston-villa-transfers-grant-holt-3019664?
I am really not sure what to make of that one... He's a year older, and barely been playing, since he was beginning to be edged out by the decidedly championship standard Kei Kamara. He's currently out of the Wigan team as Nick Powell and Marc-Antoine Fortune are favoured, which would all suggest he's not the man to get Villa firing again. But they do need a striker on the cheap for 6 months or so, and if anyone can get the most out of Holty it's Lambert. He'd get more chances each game at Villa than he got with us too. Would be very hard to watch him banging them in for Lambert's Villa, but I suspect if it did happen the decision to sell (well, what decision we had) will be vindicated.
Robbie Savage is really laying into Villa on 5live, (damnit they've got a goal back...) saying how desperate they are for a creative attacking midfielder.
If Villa relegate us with Hoolahan feeding Holt I'll feel like dragging Hughton out of Colney myself! Going to be interesting to watch how Holt at Villa works out, similar move really to us going for Gutierrez, cheap cover/another option for the rest of the season. Not someone going to radically change performances but helps stop the squad getting too stretched.
If wes and holt end up at villa playing well under lambert its gonna be one hell of a kick in the balls, as bad as thinking huckerby was staying then finding out he wasn't on sky sports news?
I don't know, can't be much more than 2.30 in a fast car straight up the M6, compared to double that from Norwich!
I think the main thing is it is just one road, hopefully he can afford to pay the toll, thus avoiding the worst part of the M6
Holty is apparently confirmed. Thinking about it, you wouldn't want to be a defender with Holt and Benteke running at you. I assume his sole job if they play together will be to hold up the ball until Benteke gets there!
Hulls striker force of Jelavic and Long could become impressive especially with Huddlestone playing well in CM. Other teams around us are making their moves, I hope Hughton has something up his sleeve.....
I hope so too, Besiktas have put in an offer for Toivonen, not seen any rumours associating us. Says Wonder if we are one of the two other clubs
I really hope that this is not going to create much hubris but I don't see Jellavic doing too much. Bloody Shane Long almost always seems to score against us so let's hope his move doesn't get sorted until Sunday. Credit to Hull though - they may be about to be turned into the Tiger Franchise but they are steps to ensure that they don't slide back down the table following their decent start to the season. On another note I am very pleased with our getting JG on loan - excellent addition to the squad and presumably funds in place should CH want to bring in a player capable of starting in the first XI
I'm not sure they'd be frightened of them running at them, it's when the big buggers get their back to you and have a good wrestle that they will be tough to deal with. They'll either fight like lions or fall over like scottish wingers! Bah!
