We could all have a meltdown style panic about that being the reason MP was straight batting all questions about the future, or that Nicola is playing another dangerous game of brinkmanship with the Liebherrs?

Or we could conclude that as it's in The Sun it's bollocks, particularly as they've fallen into second place behind the Mail for "Saints favoured paper".....

The choice is all ours....

So last season it was him leaving because of lack of cash from the Liebherr's and now it's because top Italian teams want him. Cortese is linked to leave more them most of our players.

Part of me says this is Cortese wangling on next years budget. He smells Europe from where we are now and he wants it.

We must also remember this would've been the final season in the five year plan.

In all seriousness though, amongst the chat on here we've had recently about loyalty - despite it being Year 5 of the plan etc, it would feel desperately disloyal for him, as the helmsman, to jump ship at this stage. Unless there's trouble behind the scenes, I can't honestly see it.

Didn't he turn down Milan before? That was when we were in L1 if I remember. Why would he leave now he has a team in the top half of the richest and most competitive league in world football?

Clarence Seedorf just became their new manager.

Phew. And yes Imps, he did. Hence it makes no sense right now unless there's trouble at the mill. Even if there was though, I'd suspect he'd try and transition it to new owners, rather than just bugger off.

Can't see Milan ever going for him tbh. Belusconi's daughter is general manager there and the whole club is a mess.

The initial 5 year plan was adjusted long ago, so it doesn't pertain anymore. He isn't going to abandon his baby. We've had this before. Forget it.

Look, the media can't find any weakness in the player situation. Nobody is going anywhere. They can't find a weakness in the managerial situation. That's fallen on stony ground. So what have they got left..?

The paper press can't find an angle and it's galling them to hell. It's not even interesting, and the fact that people are even appearing to worry plays into their hands.

Goodnight.

You can never ignore money, but lets do it for the sake of argument. Nicola has a project here, where he is totally in charge and all plaudits will fall on him. Depends if he thinks he has finished here....I don't, do you? If he takes a job at a big European club, will he make the same impact as here. Of course, there is always the crappy English weather :(

I don't think he will go, but as someone said, we are in slightly better shape than when he arrived. Be very sad though as I think we'll just end up as a decent but ordinary club without him. For what its worth, I think Mauricio answered the question about his future in a quite straight forward way...no straight bat at all. He is not in charge of his own fate, so could never come right out and say that he was staying forever.
