Southampton face nightmare scenario of losing Cortese

The media have cottoned on to the fact that we Saints fans are as twitchy as hell. All they need to do is make up some fiction about the tea lady or someone equally as important such as Cortese possibly leaving the club and we collapse in absolute panic.

As I always say just remember that should the President of the USA or the Queen of England be run over by a bus today there will be someone waiting in the wings to take over.

No one is irreplaceable. (except the very lovely Mrs Godders of course)

I sit quite close to him and its the first time I've noticed him not being there. Although I wasn't at the Chelsea game so I can't comment on that one.

Fran, you will still be here tomorrow supporting Saints, as will I and everyone one else on this forum (apart from our resident blue, who oddly prefers it here) and the club will too.

Southampton FC is more important than any individual, no matter how good he has been for us. I am confident that he would leave us in safe hands and that we won't go back to where we were (as in nearly gone forever). Even if we did plummet to the depths of despair and financially get in trouble without him steering us (though I doubt that), we are proven to be able to recover.

The king would be dead; long live the kingdom!!

Don't be fooled, the greatest trick Cortese ever pulled, was convincing the world he didn't exist...

Honestly, if I was a power mad moderator I'd close the thread, it's that unworthy of being open. Frankly, I would have thought -DTLW would have some sort of validity filter built in by now.

 

I am a long time Saints fan, but I have never experienced a regime like the present one. We have always made short term plans...it is wonderful to have a long term strategy...especially one which makes us different from a lot of other teams. I do try to enjoy the moment, but I always have the feeling that someone will snatch it from us. However, as you say, we will have Saints after Nicola goes (but I hope he stays a bit longer).

I, for one, am only joking . I can't see him leaving for another project at the current time. If in 5 years time we still haven't made the Champions League and he feels he has taken the club as far as he can and gives up on the 'dream' then I could see him moving on. For now I think we have nothing to worry about

 

It comes down to whether he is bored with this project and hopes another will offer him more (and in sunnier climes). He won't find many jobs which give him the relatively free hand he has here. I feel he will stay for at least a couple more years to see the Academy launched and hopefully see us in Europe.

 

I was only mucking about too. He's probably been skiing or something.
