Once he get's his range back he's perfect for that role, he's rusty his long range passing was bound to be off a bit today.

Him sitting with M'Vila (hoping) with Hendo in an advanced role is our midfield 3 soon <ok>

It was a very strange game Jimmy. One that I'm glad to have got out of the way and one that I'm delighted to have won.

So now I'll annoy some others by singing "This will be our year" :)<ok>

Exactly. We lost this fixture last season (and the two seasons prior). If I'm being honest, I wasn't that confident going into this match because a)Stoke are still a horrible team and b)we've got a lot of injuries.

I'm grateful that we got the 3 points and now we have Villa at home next...

What was Mig's error? 2 unsighted shots through defender's legs and a perfected placed header. I blame more the CBs for all 3 goals (and the CMs for allowing the chances in the first place).

I'm a big Mig fan but I thought he could have done better for Walters's goal. But I do agree, the whole build up could have been avoided in the first place - the same applies to all 3 goals.

What was with the punching from mig today as well? Half a dozen of them looked comfortable catches... I'm no goalkeeper but looked uncertain and nervy rather than necessary

I agree... this thing is i can forgive a young keeper a loss of form. He is a good shot stopper, just nothing like the keeper reina is. in 5 years maybe. We should be resting the kid for the big man but we shoved him out the door... oops!

the firs tone i don't think was his fault it was a good shot... the second was rank. they train for getting down and he just didn't do what his body should have done automatically.

save from gerrard's class attacking header... <yikes> and one from.. crouch? meant he tried his best as well.

I blame the midfield for making stupid errors to expose the cbs too... first stoke goal was pathetic defending. saurez chased back into sterlings slot stelring never bothered. then when the danger was supposedly over... johnson.. god.. let the guy wander off onto his other foot and cross unopposed.. then tourse had switched off too allowing crouch room by assuming no cross was coming.

thier second was crap between henderson mucking up and gerrard falling over. skertl had backed off then had to try to challenge, if it went through legs its hardly his fault cos he was exposed. (i don't like him though but have to try to be fair)

Yeah to be fair to the bloke he made some good saves today, just said on the other thread about Reina not coming back, just don't see a way back now.

Don't think I've seen Johnson block a cross this season, every cross gets in from that side

Not having a go, but I find it interesting that a few who were criticising Reina last year for flogging goals are now saying how much better a keeper he is.
For me, he's always been the better man, but he was coming to the end of his time with us, for one reason or another, and we bought for the future.

    100% agree.

Its part of the human psyche to remember the better things more than bad.

Reina had been off for quite some time, despite showing improvements, and left us in an exposed position.

I agree on the crosses, it hurts our cbs in that we look gash cos the full backs on both sides fail to block anything.. .their job IMO.

I don't get it. johnson always gives at least 5 yards to everyone. he did block one today i think.. I nearly fell off my chair <laugh>

The amount of flack Reina got from set pieces on this forum was unbelievable.

I have to agree with Saint here. Also as Bow says - the grass is always greener on the other side.

I'd love to see Reina back even if it's for a game to say goodbye properly! Think even he was shocked to be shipped out! That said, Migs could be our keeper for the next decade.....I do hope the little errors don't rock his confidence too much...it happened to Reina and many other top keepers......now we'll see the strength of the guy mentally.

like i said i got abuse on this site for saying he dropped clangers. I do want to point out however that, whether it was to secure a move or otherwise, he improved greatly the second half of last year.

reina was as good by the end as he ever was but one thing that never dropped was his passing ability.

I think we were indeed exposed which is why again i agreed with buying mingolet. I wanted them to compete... mingolet could then take the throne next year... he has done well as i've said but is inconsistent in the attitude he takes.

Today he was punching stuff, v oldham he was dominant. he needs to find the right way to play no matter who it is.

happened to hart... who just proved (sort of) that a couple weeks out is no harm. LFc don't have those two keepers to drop your chosen man do we? We did but you know... he is a kid in keeper terms. We should forgive some stuff as long as we see him trying ti improve.

I for one first pointed out his crappy distribution on here but i've also praised him as he's got a little bit better. He's got more comfortable with that side but he has made some goal conceding errors lately.
