There is no point playing Lucas full stop. Put Allen in there when he get's back, or this M'villa if we get him.
Well you say that but we looked a better midfield with him there. However, I think we would have struggled, whoever played,in midfield because our full backs were incapable of stopping the endless stream of crosses coming in.
I said earlier that cissoko was having a good game. he might have been when I wrote it but he was shocking later. glad he's on loan and not ours so we can just send him back. wisdom will be a better bet next season in johnsons place after a year on loan.
Looking ahead to next week's fixtures you'd have to assume Arsenal will beat Fulham at home and City will beat Cardiff at home. Then Chelsea & United play each other so 1 or both will drop points. Spurs play Swansea away and Everton play West Brom under new management away, 2 potentially tricky games. Could give us a very good chance of opening up a little gap between the chasing pack.
That Sturridge finish was pure class to be honest. How can some one look that sharp after coming back from 6 weeks? Keep this lad fit and we have a tremendous player on our hands.. The control, vision and execution of that goal was spot on.
I thought his composure to hold up and flick it back outside for Suarez was brilliant. Suarez's finish was alright too
Here we go the usual mob want to lay all the blame on Gerrard's back. It was not Gerrard's fault that Henderson was absolutely useless today. Henderson couldn't pass shoot or tackle today and that was HENDERSON'S fault. Cissohko was rubbish and has been since he arrived. However, his performance was only slightly poorer than Johnson's. Fair play to Stoke for their attitude. What the lack in skill they make up for in effort. Did anybody think that the playing surface at the Britannia is strange? The ball did not appear to roll. You would expect the surface to have got faster as the rain fell but that didn't appear to happen.
Yeah I noticed it as well - the ball just seem to stick when it landed. With regards to Gerrard, I thought he looked pretty good defensively but some of his passing was terrible. Having said that, he has been out for a while and was bound to look rusty. But the entire midfield and defence was shocking today. But never mind lads - at the end of the day, we went to a ground that we hadn;t won at, against a team who hardly concede at home (7 at home this season) and we put 5 past them. This was a real banana skin but we passed.
Stats time: SCFC 3 #LFC 5 FT Possession%: 51-49 | Passes: 414-433 | Accuracy%: 79-79 | Final 3rd: 148-138 | Accuracy%: 69-66 | Shots: 13(4)-13(9) Stevie G lost the ball 18 times today - more than any other non-forward. He also won the ball back 16 times - more than anyone in the team It was his Long Pass accuracy that was letting him down: 43% (6/14) today. Usually at 76% (111/147 before today) Since the possession win stats have been collected Lucas hasn't won the ball 16 times in a game for LFC Stevie did that today! #HoldingRole
Yeah I thought Stevie was pretty good defensively but his passing was way off. Anyways, we got the result! Buzzing! And ... SAS are back! Keeping Sturridge fit would be a big boost for us. SAS plus Coutinho.
Where to start?? Some takeaways, some already said: Another Mignolet error! Getting worried now!! Sorry, but our midfield trio is better without Gerrard (injuries allowing) Our Full backs were pants We look like we can concede at any time...not good Too much space in front of our back 4....drives me nuts! Sterling's final ball is awful, everything else has improved though. Get that sorted and he'll be a star 5 goals away from home was more than i could of hoped for against a team that doesn't concede that many Coutinho should of scored and not just because I had a fiver on him to score at any time It was a very soft penalty but we were due a break Suarez is just amazing Sturridge is also amazing, very glad he's back We're back in the top four. At the end of the day, that's what matters Roll on the European ties and some of the others dropping points
