Anyone heard officially whether Cabs and Krul are definitely back for this one? Seen journo reports saying they 'should' be fit to return, but I never trust those stories.

And I see Santon is a doubt too. Anita at RB? We'll have to call Tav back from his loan at this rate.

Krul, Santon, MYM, Williamson, Saylor, Anita, Tiote, Cabaye, Gouffran, Sissoko, Remy

No way should Taylor be starting. Should be Santon at RB and Haidara at LB with MYM and Williamson at CB. By not picking Haidara it means one of M'biwa or Taylor will be out of position.

Pleased with the rest of the team though.

Its got to be M'biwa at RB, Haidara had hinted at that earlier in the week on GFN.
I can understand Taylor in the centre to combat the strength and power of Negredo.

Any one if those four defenders are capable if having games where they literally give goals away.

Having all four of them together in the same back four... <yikes>

From the BBC:
Newcastle: Krul, Santon, Steven Taylor, Williamson, Yanga-Mbiwa, Anita, Tiote, Cabaye, Sissoko, Remy, Gouffran.

Subs: Cisse, Ben Arfa, Gosling, Haidara, Elliot, Marveaux, Sammy Ameobi.

No Shola on the bench?
Marv back in the squad though ahead of Obertron, at last.
But Gosling? WHAT? Didn't even realise his loan had ended. Surely Bigi should be ahead of him now for a midfield place? Although I would have gone for Dummett on the bench instead of either of them when we have such a depleted defence.

Agree, seems an odd choice. Especially when Santon and Haidara are more natural full-backs, although MYM did look ok at LB last season when he had to cover.

Agree it's worth having Saylor against Negredo. The problem with Saylor and Willo together is their lack of speed, movement and positional sense compared with Colo. City are a team who move around quickly, so we could be very exposed with those two at the heart if defence together. I may watch this one from behind the sofa.

Apparently taken from the official match day programme- feature by Joe clueless Kinnear:

Inside today's 'matchday magazine', Joe Kinnear has used his notes to rule out any big signings in January.

"Given the business we did last January and with the addition of Loic Remy in the summer, it is our belief that we now have a squad that, in terms of quality and quantity, is stronger than we had in the season we finished fifth, and should enable the manager to deal with every reasonable eventuality," the director of football said.

"If the right player becomes available for the right price and we are sure he can improve on what we have in the squad, then we may do business"

Get lost Joe! What do you actually do?

Is it just my tv screen settings or has Nasri been doing most of his training at Gregg's bakery?
