Can't say I agree on the Bendtner issue. The big Dane has had FAR more opportunities to impress than he would have been given at any other big club. 168 apps for Arsenal most of which have been well below the required standard. There's no doubt he has ability but how many chances do you give a guy rather than sign an alternative? If you want to win trophies you have to be ruthless. If players don't perform they have to go.
Regarding signings (or a lack thereof), there is a positive to come from this. If Wenger doesn't sign anyone, and our season goes down the toilet because of it, he has nowhere to hide, he cost us in 2010/11 by refusing to sign a CB, if he pulls the same stunt again, then i can see a massive swing in opinion against him. Basically, if he ****s our season up, his job suddenly isn't looking so secure.
Arsenal told they can get Alvaro Morata on loan as Real Madrid change their stance Arsenal were today handed a boost in their efforts to bolster their injury-hit strike force as Real Madrid made clear they are willing to listen to offers for Arsene Wenger's primary target Alvaro Morata. The Gunners have been notified that the Spanish club and striker would be open to a move to the Emirates until the end of the season - with no option to make the deal permanent. However, following talks between the player's representatives and the club, Real have altered their stance, and should the terms of the loan - including a fee - be agreed between the clubs, Morata could be at the Emirates by the end of the month. So now he is available?
Maybe - but it doesn't look like we are interested http://www.irishtimes.com/sport/soc...enger-plays-down-alvaro-morata-talk-1.1651065
..or if he doesn't sign anyone, and we go on and win, he will be proved right. All his detractors will say they were wrong about him; admit they were silly to have doubted him all along; and promise never to say anything negative, or lose confidence in him again!
If we win the league without signing anyone, i will happily admit i was wrong. Not going to happen though, i'm 110% certain.
If Wenger doesn't sign a forward, and Arsenal don't win the league, will people admit that Wenger was wrong?
If you provide evidence i will, but i somehow doubt you have a time machine and can create an alternate reality to prove we would have won the title if we had signed a striker.
Lol, what a funny insurance reply. Commonnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn, don't play silly, we know our odds of winning the title with a world class striker would have been much higher than without, put it this way, say we lose the title by 5 points, one can in fact conclude that a new world class striker would have quite easily helped us make those 5 points and some. The same goes with signing Ozil, one can conclude that our title chances has significantly improved with having a world class creative midfielder like him in the team, it's not rocket science.
But here is the problem. Even if we give you that, who is to say that world class striker was available, that the striker was actually world class and that if we had him we still might have fallen short, even though the odds were better.
If a worldy isn't available in January, I don't want us to sign a second tier player for millions just to make up the numbers. Loan striker or a desperado like Berbatov would be our best options I think.
Excellent. If Wenger doesn't sign and Arsenal win, he's a genius. If he doesn't sign and Arsenal don't win, it's not his fault.
