Renault engines late for Jerez tests?
Horner of Red Bull had asked moving a week, but Ferrari and Mercedes are against
Ferrari and Mercedes you are opposite, so there will be variations in the timing of the tests, but Christian Horner, team principal of Red Bull Racing, at the last meeting between Formula 1 team would ask for moving a week testing session in Jerez that should open officially on 28 January 2014 season.
RED BULL RACING IS NOT LATE! It seems that the problem does not depend on Milton Keynes team which is preparing the RB10 second timing provided by Adrian Newey, but from the power-supply unit from Renault. So much so that they started shooting of rumors that all the teams that will have to be provided of the V6 Turbo Energy could start late tests. There is alarm, then, to Red Bull Racing but Lotus, Caterham and Red Bull.
PROBLEM WITH THE RENAULT TURBO? Of course on a subject so delicate is not None: mouths are sewn. Rob White, head of Renault Sport F1, it minimizes. There are those who claim that the troubles are not the Prime Mover (would have been brilliantly resolved the initial trouble the crankshaft), but the turbocharger marked BorgWarner. The supercharging system would be provided to American multinational from APC Turbo Pankl racing of GmbH, the German company based in Mannhein which once was known in the racing world for the initials KKK (Kühnle, Kopp & Kausch AG).
NO ONE HAS YET ACHIEVED RELIABILITY! Renault would also continuously worked on feast days to find a solution with the other partners. Assembling a power-unit 2014 involves many different vendors: around the V6 Turbo there is a turbocharger, KERS, the ERS, the batteries and the control electronics. Six very different elements harmonize in one unit. It is normal at this stage there can still be problems to resolve. Especially since the French House is not the only one to have trouble on the Revolutionary Youth power-unit: even Ferrari and Mercedes have yet to achieve full reliability of the systems, but ensured their team customers that will be available for testing engines of Jerez.
FERRARI AND MERCEDES TAKES TWO WEEKS OF HOLE In Maranello and Brixworth opposed strenuously to moving a test week: give in on this point, in fact, have had important repercussions on developments of motor planning. The two Builders want a two-week hole between sessions in Jerez and Bahrain to have time to analyze all the data collected in Spain and prepare for the necessary changes. Otherwise, if there had been a change of schedule, the machines should go directly from Andalusia in the Emirate, precluding a whole series of works that have already been programmed. One can well understand what all fibrillation teams and engine manufacturers in this phase: any variation to the predetermined plans can have important effects on timing already planned ...
