I don't think they have a title sponsor, but I reckon they'll sell it on the cheap to maintain the pretence. If they had someone lined up they wouldn't have delayed the announcement. I think McLaren will start next season with a good car, but I think Honda will lean on them heavily to divert attention to the 2015 car early in the season. It would be disastrous for Honda if McLaren fought for next year's title with a Mercedes engine and then slipped back to the midfield in 2015 with a Honda engine because they'd worked on the 2014 car until November. Honda will want McLaren to be stronger in 2015 than 2014.
I think their 'traditional' orange is a throw back their 'international' racing colours, (NZ being orange, GB being British Racing green like lotus'. Not sure they release their road cars that way though, I've only ever see black ones
The F1 and the 12C were both released in orange, I just don't think anyone buys them in that colour because they look a bit ****.
yeah, possibly, I've seen a few (my brother in law runs a company that does alloy wheels, he offered me a job dealing with car dealers last year, I said no thinking it would be 'honest Johns' I'd be dealing with, a few months later my dad, who works for him, showed me some of the cars they deal with, I almost cried, Bugatti's, Ferrari's, Lamborghini's, McLarens et al, i'll try and get the photo's, just so you can all laugh at my foolishness for saying no)
The 12C looks immense in Orange! But to be fair, you probably shouldn't have an orange Trabant. Though it might help hide the rust.
According to OmniCorse Renault want the first test moved back by a week because they still have problems with the turbo. Ferrari and Mercedes are opposed to this because they want a two week break between the Jerez and Bahrain tests. All manufacturers still have problems with reliability (as reported by AMuS in the past), but Ferrari and Mercedes have assured their customers that their engines will be ready by the first test. Also what do you guys think about this? It's the LaFerrari from the video but with a rear wing added. Is it an LMP1 prototype or an F1 V6 mule? please log in to view this image
McLaren have updated their website from Vodafone McLaren Mercedes to just McLaren Mercedes. Would it be fair to assume they haven't got a title sponsor?
They need to get a move on, theres no point keeping a title sponsor quiet its likely they are still looking for one
I thought a provisional date had been pencilled in for December for the announcement? Suspect they still don't have one, and delaying the announcement is simply buying time.
McLaren MP4-29 will have an innovative rear suspension according to OmniCorse: http://translate.google.co.uk/trans...lla-nella-sospensione-posteriore-della-mp4-29 Also an update on the LaFerrari mule. Apparently it's not the F1 V6, but a V8 Turbo fitted with F1 ERS (information comes from La Gazzetta). I read on Marca that Ferrari are worried about reliability issues determining the victories in the first third of the season, so they are testing their electrical and energy recovery systems in their 2011 car. The full power unit can't be tested until Jerez.
2014 F1 season a 'massive opportunity' to fail, according to Fry ...It is the area of cooling that Fry thinks will be especially tricky to get right, and any outfit that does not get it spot on straight away could be in for a tough time. "I think it is one of those years where you need to be developing your car rather than fixing cooling problems," explained Fry. "At the start of each year when you get the cooling wrong, a huge amount of resource goes into fixing radiators, bodywork and everything like that....
Jon Noble ‏@NobleF1 Lotus to miss the first F1 pre-season test in Jerez. Full story soon Oh dear, is that down to Renault?
