Don't know if this is in reference to recently or in the summer, but Adam Blackmore has tweeted that he believes West Ham offered £2m for Lambert.

I find myself agreeing with Paul Merson .... I need to lie down.

Taken from skysports.com:

"What they need

The first thing is to keep hold of their manager, and possibly Luke Shaw as well. Once those tasks are ticked off the 'To do' list, a little squad depth would be very handy, particularly in the middle of their defence. In addition, if they can conjure a decent goalkeeper from somewhere that doesn't try Cruyff turns in his own penalty box and isn't Paolo Gazzaniga, that would be lovely too.

What they will probably get

Well, not a great deal, if the words of their manager are anything to go by...

What's been said

"We're not really concerned, we're happy with the young players that are part of this team. That gives us an important balance but we're not really looking at the January transfer window. We're happy with our young players' contributions, so we're not really looking to use the window" - Mauricio Pochettino, December 20.

Merson's verdict

Southampton spent their money in the summer. They took their chance and did some very good business bringing in three players down the spine of the team in Pablo Osvaldo, Victor Wanyama and Dejan Lovren. I don't think they will do anything else in January."

Yoshida has said he may look to leave in Jan and said Lee is going back to the J league.

Source?

I feel sorry for Yoshida as I thought he would be our first choice alongside Lovren this season. The Confederations Cup didn't help as it meant he missed most of pre-season. Wouldn't surprise me if he does go though, as he has to be playing regularly to be at his best for the World Cup. Will mean we'll definitely need another CB, not sure if we'll find one as good that would be available.

Surely not. If they sack him he gets a ridiculous payout, and if he quits he gives up a ridiculously valuable contract.

Not only that, but they're a comfortable 8th right now...cannot see any more appealing jobs for Pardew, nor any reason why Ashley would want to fire him now.

On Yoshida, if he's looking for the exit, we definitely need reinforcements.

Apparently said it in a interview with the Japanese press.

It's ok, I believe it was photoshopped abyway.
Newcastles official twitter had apparently posted that he's left but now I've checked their official page and they haven't. Nothing to see here :)

Re. Ings, a couple of people have mentioned him possibly for his Soton connections, aside from the question about whether he would be a good signing (I think possibly but wouldn't add much to us right now), Burnley are going to be asking a huge amount for him because of their league position. If he does move it will surely be Summer, they would virtually be throwing away their top two chances.

He's been mentioned on a few wishlists around not606, everyone always needs a striker I suppose.

I'd want him but not for ten mil. My mate said Ings laughs about him being worth that much.

Wolfsburg have failed to agree a deal with Anderlecht's defender Kouyate - apparently we're interested (but this is according to TalkSport....)

He has been linked in the past. The performances of Hooiveld and the fact Yoshida sounds like he wants to go means centre back has to be one of our main priorities. Just depends whether it happens this month or the summer.
