Really annoyed about this game. We were the better side, but got nothing again. Very disappointing to get level and then just throw it away immediately after. Got bugger all from the officials once again.
I must say I'm not actually that upset by that one - I thought we played really well (unlike against Spurs), but I'm not walking away from the game thinking we were robbed (like against Villa). A cracking game between two really good sides that we narrowly lost. It could and perhaps should have been a draw on the balance of play, but a good display all round. Fair play to Gaston as well, think he looked busy, good and committed when he came on. Plus shifted us up a gear.
4 bookings and only 1 from a foul. Bit disappointing to lose, especially as that was a clear handball, but we played well today. Also its awesome to see Clyne back, I've missed him.
Not a bad performance...some failings in both ends, but we were decent value for a point. Not really fussed about the maybe-kinda-penalty shout; could have been given, but it would've been a cheap way back in.
Frustrating. Better team again, dominate possession, but don't really put the oppo keeper under sustained pressure. You can't really expect to win more games than you lose by hoping to have a 90%+ conversion rate for chances created.
Quite a few positives to take from that. No new injuries or suspensions. Gaston looking useful & Super Kelv proving the old joints still work. (now Luke, no partying on new years eve....warm milk & bed)
Draw would have been fair. We had them by the scruff but couldnt finish. Gaston did quite well for me the jury is still out. Moments after id sai "why is gaston on" he comes up with a goal like that. Gaston to start v burnley. Onto the next.
Ball-to-hand cross from fairly short range on the edge of the box? I get pissed when they give them when it's our defender (heh, usually Fonte), so I figure that I cannot be too upset when the roles are reversed.
It was a nailed-on penalty. The defender's hand was raised away from his body, not protecting himself, in line between the striker and the goal. No wonder Adam was giving the ref stick, but he should have remembered he wasn't captain today.
That was not ball to hand. He had his arms tucked in as is right but then raised his hand to stop the ball. At least that is what I saw!
It's funny, these days it's annoying me more when we miss out on an opportunity to get something from a game we were underdogs in than when we slip up in games we should easily be winning. The Villa and Spurs games rustled my jimmies somewhat, but this game and the Chelsea and to a lesser extend Arsenal games have really galled me. Frustrating few weeks. Anyway, whisper it quietly but Gaston has looked brighter recently, I thought he did well coming on against Spurs and today going beyond just his goal I thought he played some good stuff.
Agree with this. That or the officials will find a way to make sure the big club wins. On the plus side though after Chelsea we've got a great run of games until about mid March, not that it greatly matters as we won't leave 8th-9th place for the rest of the season. May catch Newcastle but that's it. Good season to blood some more youngsters in the second half ready for a proper push next season that being the case. Future lies in how quickly they can grow if we're not signing too many.
These things swing in roundabouts. Remember the penalty we got at Villa Park last season? We're not going to get penalties every time so we're just going to have to deal with it.
