They must have some midfield to keep him out. Get him and Vic playing through the whole season and your manager and seriously see you challenging for European places maybe top four.
Yep that's the Vic we all know and love. The funny part of that is Wilshire trying to shoulder Vic off the ball. Brilliant. Goal celebration is great. Lovely guy. Btw Ambrose one of our CD does six somersaults when he scores.
In the Daily Mirror's 'half-term report', they give the award for 'bottom of the class' to Victor Wanyama.
I expect nothing less from the Mirror & their agenda department. Its become more funny than irritating.
I presume they said Wanyama because he hasn't stormed up the pitch and scored a goal, so is obviously useless. They gave us an overall score of B+....probably about right, though I hope we start picking up points and achieve A-.
That would be me then! And yes, it is ridiculous although it depends how they mean it. If they are saying he has been absolute crap, then yes, it is completely ridiculous. If they are saying that he has been marginally less good than the others then it becomes more understandable, even though I know most of you won't even allow that. If we have to have a "bottom of the class" category who would you give it to, out of the regular starters?
Judging by some of their other choices at "bottom of the class", that's not really how it's done, but I suppose it's a fair point. If I had to choose out of every regular starter I'd pick Lambert.
unbelievable that Victor would be considered even close to bottom of the class. It just shows how many expert statisticians there are rather than knowledgeable football people. I still don't understand how people can't see how he fits into our jig-saw.
I wouldn't name any player in our first 11-13 as bottom of the class. All important cogs. Bet you can't say that about many teams.
Before he was out, people were moaning about him; they just don't see the 'big team picture'. Without him in, we don't look as solid and the defense seems under greater pressure. So, you need to choose between Cork, Davis or Morgan. For me, it can't be Morgan, so Cork or Davis. I think it is hard for people to put aside their feelings for their favourites.
As stated on MotD tonight, look at our run of results since Victor has been injured. This has been made worse by Snidders missing a number of games through injury and suspension. Nothing against Corky, as he has been pretty solid (ex Aston Villa which we can forgive as it was his first league start of the season and was obviously rusty). Although he does lack the sheer physical presence of Victor he gets stuck into the tackle and his distribution has been good (something Victor needs to improve).. For the "Big Games" I would like to see all three play together Hurry up Big Vic…we need you!
I think Cork and Schneiderlin are very similar players and we shouldn't really be doing this Wanyama vs Cork thing. Cork cannot do what Wanyama has been brought in to do and that is a change in our central 2. Cork and Schneiderlin can both play the more forward of the 2 but Wanyama is much much better at being the more defensive of the 2. So Wanyama should be 1st choice in the system that MP wants to play with one staying back and letting the other CM go forward . Unless he wants to revert to how we played last season where both CMs were much deeper then Wanyama will be the best option. That's not to say that we can't rotate occasionally but I would say Cork and Schneiderlin are the more likely to be rotated and I'm sure that would make many gasp, the thought of Schneiderlin being rested for Cork!!!!
Yep, exactly. All the comparisons between Wanyama and Cork are silly as they play different roles. Clearly we we wanted a physical presence in back and considering how well it's worked I don't see that changing. Cork is never going to be able to play that role as well as Wanyama unless he starts taking massive amounts of steroids or something. So in reality, it's Schneiderlin who is taking Cork's spot. Honestly, he's kind of taking Davis's spot as well. If Davis was as good at tackling as Schneiderlin is, or Cork was as good at creating/passing then that's where they'd play. As it is, Davis is playing more up top in an advanced playmaker role where he's not doing too shabby at all, though seems to be in a time-share with JWP, and Cork is a substitute for Wanyama and probably for Schneiderlin as well. The problem is Schneiderlin is just too awesome (and also a fan favorite) that there's really no case to be made for Cork taking his spot even though Cork is pretty darn good. So everyone resorts to the Wanyama thing.
Disagree with above simply because you have got your tar brush out and used "everyone". Several people have said they would prefer Cork to Wanyama and several people have criticised his passing. Some of us have defended him and pointed out his physical presence as you have. I actually thin it's wrong to compare Morgan to cork too; they are different players.
