    Exactly.
    Look at Man City.
However if Kenny signs 7-8 players, then the majority of them will have prem experience and that makes them settle quickly. However not all of them will be thrown in at the same time. We're not Man City.

Personally I want us to sign Mata before we go out and sign £22m on a 19 year old centre-back. (Also wouldn't want him to sign if we are his 'second best')

Really hope Comolli pushes for a big talent, as much as I am happy we are after English youngsters, they don't posses all we need right now.

Would be very dissapointed if we don't sign any foreign talent to be honest, we can't invest all we have in young english talent, what happens if they don't produce by January?

I mean, by the terms 'big' and 'marquee' signings, I hope they weren't talking about the likes of Henderson and Jones. This is by no means slagging them off, I'm just saying we can't kid ourselves that these guys will soley get us in the Champions League.

Before anyone says anything, I do trust King Kenny and the rest of the club, and I do understand the summer window hasn't even opened yet!

Out of all of the people we've been linked with I'd personally want:

    Scott Dann - 9m
    Mata - 22.5m
    Clichy - 5m
    Bojan - 12m
    Marc Albrighton - 16m

That's 64.5m and LW, RW, LB, CB and back-up striker sorted.

Wouldn't you prefer Aly Cissokho over Clichy? Especially at the reported knock-down price of £9m?

I haven't seen much of Cissokho admittedly, so I can't really make an informed decision on that front. I do know that on his day Clichy can be an awesome LB, I think he just needs some more guidance.

Fair enough, maybe its just because I'm looking for something new. I seem to prefer gambling on the likes of Mata and Cissokho over experienced premiership players.

I was only talking the other day about our reported interest in Downing and I thought that Albrighton would be a much better purchase! I was very impressed with him whenever I seen him play. It's a pity that he's English though so he probably would be about £16m, bags and bags of potential I think

Completely agree, I was rather disappointed that we hadn't heard anymore rumours about him since March.

any man seen wearing and then signing a utd shirt IMO should not be signed by us.

leave the utd fan (jones) to join his boyhood team and go sign the next hyppia.... he is out there, somewhere....

We don't need anymore centre-backs if we sign Dann. We have Ayala, Wilson, Kelly as the younger prospects, as well as the experience of Agger, Carragher, Skrtel and possibly Dann. And with Robinson and Flanagan are our young prospects for the full-back positions, the defence seems to be sorted for many years to come.

However, we still need a decent LB, possibly out of:
    J.Enrique - From Newcastle - £15m
    A.Cissokho - From Lyon - £9m+
    G.Clichy - From Arsenal - £5m+

    Midfield -
    R.Miereles
    S.Gerrard
    J.Henderson
    Lucas Leiva
M.Rodriguez (Although more of a winger)
    J.Spearing (Loan)
    J.Shelvey (Loan)
    A.Aquilani (Possibly leaving)
    C.Poulsen (Possibly leaving)
    J.Cole (Possibly leaving)
Aquilani should be sold around the £16m mark if he doesn't want to stay, whilst Cole and Poulsen should be sold for whatever we can get..
Even though many think we don't need anymore midfielders I still think 1-2 more would be sufficient to sustain a good challenge for the top four.

We need at least two more wingers. Mata would be perfect for the left hand side, and I would probably give Glen Johnson a shot down the right as Kelly and our new LB take the full-back positions. He has pace, dribbling ability, can get a decent cross, and even take a shot.

If we sell N'gog we will need only one more striker as Kuyt can be returned to his natural position.

That would be more than enough for not just top four... but also a shot at the title.Loads of strength in depth.

I don't want to give any false hope, a top four finish by the end of next season is a job well done. I ain't doubting the team, I am just playing it safe so to speak. Champions League should be our focus and the quality and depth there is enough to achieve that. (And maybe even a good run in the FA and Carling Cup tournaments respectively)

Apologies, I'll edit it now. He's a good player despite the stick he gets, he does a good job for us and usually puts in a decent shift.

I've heard that talks are to begin sometime this week (Skysports.com), haven't heard anything else.

Good player, if we could get him for a good price I don't see why we couldn't land him.
