Why does Tan need "to save face"?
Trust me, if Tan/Dalman bring someone in who boots us up the table let alone keeps us in this division, all these outpourings for Mackay will ring a bit hollow. Arrogant Tan may be and I don't doubt it, but he's hell bent on making his purchase of the club a resounding success.
I don't think personal issues have brought us to this point, although Malky seems to have been equally "arrogant" this past few months - he seems to have started to believe the hype surrounding him. Another important factor is that Tan's lack of knowledge of the whole football package has been admitted without shouting it out with his appointment of Dalman as Chairman.
It may be seen as throwing good money after bad to invest further in January, but Tan won't let the window pass without digging deeper to protect the investment he's already committed. I'm assuming here that Malky as well as Moody is now history, because I doubt he'd go back on his word and give him more dosh to spend - another man at the helm would be a different matter.
Personally, I'd rather Tan wasn't here with his money at all, but he is and so are we.

For me, if Tan wasn't such an interfering old git we might be a lot more concerned about how MM is tackling the PL.
As it is, Tan has once more blundered his way into a situation that can end only one way.

What world do you guys live in? Clubs like Cardiff,Norwich and the rest of the bottom half survive mainly on results against each other.There was a clamour to sack Hughton a little while back and if we lose to Sunderland today that will no doubt return.What people don't recognise is that 20 or£30million isn't the kind of money that brings success.It is the kind of money that keeps you in the division if you are lucky.

Classic red rag to a bull to someone like Tan who has put up the money but has got no idea.

If you believe that, I think you are giving Tan a lot more credit than everybody else. Where has Malky acted arrogantly?? Where has he acted like he believes any hype?? He has not uttered any words publicly that show that. Tan, on the other hand is desperate to show he is the boss. He has backed himself into a corner, and he must sack Malky now. If he doesn't sack him, he loses face. The only way he can save face if he suggests a meeting took place and Malky agreed to certain conditions.
The only other out he has is that this person he wants to hire is some sort of legend, but apparently that person has said he wants Tan to not stick his nose in. Tan may well decide he would rather stick with Malky.
Still can't see how he isn't up for the job as he is still gaining fitness after an extended lay off, and he is only 20. 8 million isn't much for a striker.
Matter of opinion Temple - didn't say he'd uttered any words, it's his just his whole persona that's seemed to have grown out of proportion to the teams performances this season.
The fact that you think Tan is trying desperately to show he's the boss tends to ignore the fact that he actually is.
Malky is an employee just like Moody was, and rightly or wrongly, can be removed by "the boss".
For a club like Cardiff I think £8 million is quite a lot of money, you obviously see it differently, but I guess it isn't our money so we can be casual about such sums.
If he was just getting fit after an extended lay off then the "one for the future " quote wouldn't apply, malky would have said he will play when he is fit enough.
