Where have I said he isn't good enough for this league..?
I can't see him given much more time.
Where have I said he isn't good enough for this league..?
I wonder if, with all fit of course, Cork, Morgan and Wanyama could all play together? Would we be taking too much away from our attacking play? How would you play all 3? Who would sit back and who would play slightly further forward? Or is it just not a good idea?
I think the most important thing for a keeper (after basic talent) is confidence. Boruc looks as if he is going to get the ball which must put attackers off. Gazza looks lightweight and doesn't frighten anyone (except Mauricio and the team). He looks afraid and, sometimes, I feel he is afraid to get hurt. Talented, but I don't think he will ever be a top keeper...I've come out and said it and, as you know, I'm not a person to have a downer on anyone.

Its unfortunate in a way that boruc is on top of his game and has maybe another 5 years left. No great understudy will want to come in and warm the bench and the club will not pay big bucks for this. Which gives us 2 options; rookie or veteran. We have both of these and are probably fine forsurvival but not where we want to be.
Im not writing gazza off but this is not ideal for him. Feel he needs a loan to a mid table NPC club with less pressure where he can gain confidence.
I can't see him given much more time.
Bialkowski may have turned into a PL goalie had he played regularly, Gazza needs to do the same and needs to be sent on loan.
Bialkiwski looked really good in pre-season before the Championship. Had he not made the mistake against West Brom he may well have been given the gloves.Feel for bialkowski, most of his stand in performances were awesome. I remember debating at the time 'should he take the no 1 shirt from Kevin'. Then blackpool at home in the league came and we never saw him again. Perhaps there's a lesson there? So boruc comes back, kelv moves to coaching.... who takes over as 2nd keeper? Stick with gazza with him rotting on the bench and throw him from reserve friendlies straight to crucial PL matches? I think he will make more mistakes and it will damage his development.
Probably deserves its own thread but what are the options?
1. Stick with gazza
2. Gazza on loan and top keeper to compete?
3. Gazza on loan and older experienced keeper to be safe hands when needed?
Going on the assumption that people feel SKD is no longer up to the std we require.
Why did Jos start over Fonte?
I don't think our management team favour loans. I'm sure someone will come up with an exception, but we seem to use loans as a means to reduce the wage bill for someone on their way out. Our players play our style...don't think our best youngsters will be loaned out to other teams to learn bad habits.
I do think it's strange how we are so reluctant to loan Gazzaniga out (albeit we need him right now). Lots of good keepers have made their careers on loan (usually at Birmingham for some reason): Foster, Hart, Butland (sort of)
Do Birmingham need a keeper now?
We are a very ambitious club and we need 2 good keepers. Gazza can stay as our third keeper (i.e. usually wouldn't be used). If he is put out on loan, I suspect he will never return. I would love to know the GK coaches opinion....at what point should a young keeper start to shine?
