Yeah that is somewhat a downer. Also i' annoying that the weather is invariably overcast whenever something astronomically interesting is due to take place. How big's your telescope? At least leaving near Southampton there's places nearby without much light pollution I'd imagine, like the new forest.

In other news, I'm ashamed to say, the song Story of My Life by One Direction is actually not that bad. :emoticon-0111-blush

It's a 102mm Bresser refractor. Nice and clear. Excellent for lunar stuff, but it can do far off stuff too:

Light pollution can be a problem, but I live three-quarters of the way up a hill and I'm not surrounded by housing, so I have a very big sky to point to. The biggest downer though is the changeable weather in the UK. I'm not prepared to stay up or get up in the wee hours for 5 minutes of interrupted/no views unless there's something special out there.

The telescope faces ESE out of one of the bedroom windows and was in an ideal position to capture Comet Ison, if anyone in the UK was. I made my usual mistake of taking too much notice of the experts and decided not to look out for the comet until it had passed around the Sun. It was only when it got too close to the Sun that the experts started to say, as one, that it might not survive, so I hastily tried a few early mornings before it went round the back, but it was too close by then. And, as far as my telescope is concerned, it hasn't survived in big enough bits.

I posted a moany thesurvivor post earlier which nobody picked up on. Fine, I thought, but I knew one member definitely would (and potentially others who hadn't seen it), so I brought it up again. Three different people commented on the particular subject - that's not a particularly private and exclusive conversation, is it?

No. I'm probably not seeing things in my usual even handed way. ;)

Tbf, I'm not going to be the one to answer a post about your subject [as I don't know what you're on about], and I missed it anyway. :)

Same with Best Song Ever. They are improving to be fair.

I'd normally not be mad at this kind of thing, cause it was a great hoax, but seriously **** that guy. I want Fallout 4 :(

I don't get all the setting up fake site ****e.

I'm here now so I can add my disappointed comment. That guy's a dick. I want my Fallout.

Oh dear....

I've yet to hear either. There are always going to be genres where one has blind spots [or should that be deaf spots..?] and therefore miss the occasional stand out that could pass over all genres and be appreciated. But, just once in a while, the odd track does blast past the all the hype and the dross and get itself heard. So, of music that comes from genres that I normally wouldn't get near, I'll nominate these:

I had an Emmental and bacon burger, it was ok. A City fan got thrown out for singing Pompey songs. The beer is cheaper in Yates, didn't fancy going in there though :emoticon-0110-tongu

Yates' is always packed with away fans. Slug is always nice, I go there quite often, only time it's ever been a pain in the arse was with the West Ham fans.

Yates is always filled with chavs.

Can tell by the lot that always hang around out front.

Anyone ever been to the Mexican/Spanish-named place across the road from there? Can't remember the name.
Yeah I have been there a few times. But I can't remember the name either. <laugh>

How is it? Pricey, busy on matchdays?

Never been on match day, usually start there when going out. Drinks are about the same as Yates, but they play the music a bit quieter so you can actually hear people talk. It's more of a bar, were Yates is just a chav club.

*edit: I remember the name now! Que Pasa
