I'm a young man, I consider myself tech savvy. I've managed to avoid knowing what reddit is. I only know what Twitter is because it's impossible to ignore forever. I used to be on Facebook but realised it was bs and deactivated my account years ago.

What is this Reddit I keep hearing of..? Is the title Reddit a play on Read it, by any chance..?

Yeah. Big bulletin board where users post links and comment on them. You can subscribe to various different boards and the content you subscribe to will all appear collectively on your front page. The content can be news, a picture someone took, a conversation someone wanted to have, or pretty much anything. As such, lots of it is garbage and you get a lot of idiots.

Apologies if this has been posted earlier: Body parts washed up on Weston Shore.

I hadn't seen that news. I survey that 'beach' from time to time so I'm extremely glad, on a personal note, that I wasn't the one to find them. When I was measuring mega clasts on the beach in Ireland, just North of Fanore, we came across a dead dolphin washed up. That was pretty weird. We then walked further down the coast, past the Fanore dunes and got picked up by a coach. It turns out that just 1/2 a mile down from where we were another group found a human body washed up and had to call the police. I can't imagine what it must be like.

I'm older, but have always been tech savvy. These days I am very selective in what I use or sign up for. If it doesn't meet enough of my needs or desires it's gone, never to return. I learned a lot about MySpace, Facebook, Twitter, Google+ and they are, by default, way too intrusive for me.

Yep, I imagined as much.

Getting reaaal sick of Reddit. Dude posts picture of him and his son meeting Jenna Fischer in a toy shop. Hundreds of commenters tell dude his son is ugly. Pricks of the highest order.

Christ. I've been lurking several times a day for months now, and it really is full of pricks, but that's just horrible. There are so many things I hate about it - people being accused of "circlejerking" for having a common opinion, "so brave" etc etc.

No Man's Sky looks amazing (this is a Indie game made by only a 4 man team!)

I noted your mega clasts survey, but what are you looking for when you survey Solent beaches, for example..? Geological characteristics of the ria, erratics, or environmental pollutents, etc..?

The game I am most looking forward to play.

I work for a coastal monitoring program, so we are looking at the level of the 'beaches' (not much in the way of 'beach' as is considered beach by the average person in the solent, but we get down and dirty and wade out into the mud), looking at erosion and accretion. There is over 10 years of data for the beaches that we monitor (from the East Solent as far West as Weymouth) and so the data we collect is compared to the last survey and surveys 10 years ago to see the short and longer term changes/trends in the beach morphology. The coastal engineers for the local councils will then decide what action to take to defend or otherwise on 'their' coastal frontages. The mega clast survey was not related to that and was just a University project looking at the possibility of historic tsunamis affecting the West Coast of Ireland.

That's the first one I've seen where I can really see the effect of the console upgrade.

It's a bit cliche, but it's true that videos don't really do most games (like Killzone) justice. The biggest difference to me though, has been the 64 man matches on BF4 which weren't possible last gen. I've spent most of my time on them.

I have yet to see a console play a game better than a good PC. Explain the advantage.
Less hassle, more exclusives and probably less money. Also multiplayer is better on a console as it isn't full of hackers.

The South Coast is certainly an interesting one. Presumably you don't get as far as Chesil Beach, but at least with the Isle of Wight out there you get some very interesting tidal movements, producing some classic erosion and accretion shapes. As an Environmental student I studied it years ago, and as a leisure sailor I've used it and appreciate it. I imagine the recent tidal surges and the sudden erosion of coastline along the East Coast has also proved interesting to you. What's the present position on South Coast defences. Are we leaving it to nature..?
