He's doing a good job with the Glenn Hoddle Academy, so would be better there than at Spurs

...which is the polite way of saying he wasn't much cop for us last time he was in charge, on the pitch or in the dressing room.

    but they cannot ??

But the squad Hoddle inherited when he was last manager was pretty poor, with a few exceptions, certainly not a patch on what we have now. I don't know really, it just seems that with his philosophy on football and his links with the club and the player he was, could it work him being manager again?
We are probably being overly harsh on AVB given his overall record as spurs boss but it is hard to see what he is trying to do with this team. With Rodgers at Liverpool, although they had a poor season last season by their standards, you could see what he was trying to do and I think most Liverpool fans gave him time because of that. I really don't see that with Spurs right now. All I can see is a lot of expensive talent performing nowhere near their potential.

My quip was about something he allegedly said in a training session with the England
    squad when he was manager.

Yeah I know RBDB it just got me thinking about Hoddle that's all. He got the England team playing good football and maybe he deserves another chance at Spurs? I wouldn't be too upset if he were to come back and have another go.

One of the most knowledgeable men in football and a club legend, not that ridiculous. Though he has probably been out of the game too long, and Levy's not the type to make a sentimental appointment.

Personally, I still think AVB should be given plenty of time, although it looks like we're not performing, the facts are, we're minimal distance from the top 4, and I can't think of a better manager thats both a) available, and b) willing to join us.

Wigan didn't panic and ditch Martinez after we beat them 9-1, and while I appreciate that the situation is different, the fact was, both teams were hammered by what turned out to be an unstoppable force on the day.

I'm personally waiting for the day Ledders gets his badges and takes the club on in the distant future, but I'm sure we'll see some turnover before that.

In short, stick with AVB for another year/year and a half, then get in the next upcoming managerial talent.

I wouldn't want to replace AVB with another up and comer, I'd want someone who's been in the game for a while. I think AVB's lack of experience is his major downfall, he's been in the managerial game for about 5 years where his success stemmed from Academica and then a great season with Porto, when leaving Porto he probably felt he was the next big thing and that Chelsea was just a blip, at Tottenham he's now making similar mistakes, I believe that he believes everything will come good in time but unfortunately for him, time is too precious in this day and age. A more experienced head who's had ups and downs in the past (preferably more ups) would realise things aren't working and switch it around, AVB's stubbornness and naivety are causing him to persist with a system that just isn't working.

I can think of a good few managers that are better than AVB at present that would probably be happy to take over this squad. On paper, the squad we have would be a dream for 90% of managers, even if most potential candidates are already employed, they'd jump at the chance to take over this squad if we were able to agree compensation with their employers.

Hiddink, Laudrop, De Boer (not much managerial experience but been in the game for years, plus Ajax - like Spurs - have a tradition of great football and so he'd be used to that sort of pressure to perform), Capello, Koeman, Pochettino, Clarke, Terim, Lucescu, Bielsa, Lippi, Hitzfeld I reckon would all have some interest in taking charge and then post WC - Felipao and van Gaal could also be potential candidates.

So to all of those who were suggesting Steve Clark-where are you now after yesterday's performance? 2-0 and he blew it. And the 2 that WBA scored, one from a long(pardon the pun) ball forward (brilliantly controlled and dispatched) and the other an error by Villa(again well taken) .

If we're judging managers on a one-game basis, shouldn't AVB have been sacked after his first game in charge in 2012?

You are probably looking at the likes of Laudrup, Martinez etc. ***
All those 'super' managers are only going to come to Spurs for the "intellectual challenge" .
And expect to be paid off handsomely if they cannot overcome that challenge.

*** I note that several Spurs supporters at the time stated that Martinez was not good enough for
a club like Spurs, when Arry got sacked.

Martinez was second on my list at the time after Moyes. Think he's a great manager, I've always said how Wigan were lucky to have him for as long as they did and how he built the foundations at Swansea.

Levy would bring in a manager on mutual terms, the higher profile managers may want a big pay off if their contract is terminated early but Levy's the type of man who won't be bent over and so I'm sure he'd get a good deal. Like I said, this sort of squad is a dream for many managers to manage, many would believe in their own ability to get the best out of them and would therefore would probably ask for bonuses for success rather than be worried about the gloom of failure.

Paddy Power have already tweeted their odds on who will be replacing AVB, I don't hold much hope for the man but talk about jumping the gun a bit!

"Next Permanent Spurs Manager: 4/1 Laudrup, 5/1 Harry Redknapp, 12/1 Pochettino, Klinsman 14/1 Klopp"
