He managed Man Utd for the last 5 years, don't you know? Might not be a bad idea to bring him in to replace Freund, if some relatively minor tinkering would help. Ferguson seemed to hire assistants who actually did quite a bit of useful work, by all accounts.
Can't remember where I heard it but apparently in his book Fergie gushes over Quieroz and hardly mentions Phelan. Maybe Levy should be getting on the phone to him.
I think you should give AVB until at least the end of the season. He has so many new players it needs time for them to gel. Oh, and hands off Pochettino if you do sack him.
You got £9mill for Richards so I think it was us that got ripped off. Definitely owe you after Bale though
Selling those add-ons for £2m looks like awful business by whoever was in charge now, doesn't it? Easy to talk about it in hindsight though, I guess.
How about £7mill plus another average 'keeper? To be honest, I don't really want Shaw. Not that he's not good but we have lots of talented youngsters already we could do with someone experienced like Baines. Plus I doubt he's in any rush to leave you guys anyway.
I admire anyone with a decent respect for their own ignorance. There are three kinds of jobs, though: engineering, where if you don't know your ****, the bridge really will fall down, anthropologist, which anyone can do about as well as anyone else, and nutritionist, where you just recycle a lot of unwise received wisdom, add a dash of pseudoscience, and spice with some would-be trendy angle in the hope of getting buy-in from a bunch of know-nothings. I wonder which one football manager most closely resembles...
Bruce Arena, wouldn't fix any of your problems. He's a great man manager, but he's pretty inept tactically and his teams really only play a 442, with two traditional wingers. That was mostly over beginning of his tenure, when he took over a team that relied on last ditch defending and hopeful counterattacking, and decided to turn them into a team capable of being a possession based football team. Under Bob Bradley none of our hispanic talent playing in Liga MX, was ever given a shot. Under Klinnsman we've transformed into a team that plays a more latin based possession game. We've gone through an entire philosophy change since he took over, and now every one is behind Klinnsman 100%. Klinnsman moved his line up around to found out what his best team was. Clint Dempsey and Landon Donavon hadn't played together for the national team until Septembers WCQ under Klinnsman's reign. Unlike England, The United States has been rewarding inform players with call ups, and giving them a shot, instead of just using the big names, or the people who've been in national team rotation for awhile. In fact, the entire projected starting back 4 for Brazil will be 4 players that have been called up because they were playing well for their clubs. Brad Evans, Omar Gonzalez, Matt Besler, and DeMarcus Beasley. What tiny countries? Our only two losses during World Cup Qualifying were to Costa Rica and Honduras away, both tough games against World Cup bound teams. Even had Mexico not imploded into a team incapable of doing anything, the United States would still sit at the top of CONCACAF. We drew to Scotland 0-0 at Hampden Park, and lost to Austria 1-0, in Austria and missing 5 regular starters. We've won something like 17 out of our last 20 games. Not that it matters much, Klinnsman is the head of a big project in the United States, and won't be leaving anytime soon. Ole Gunnar Solsjaer, would be an interesting option as well. I'm surprised he hasn't been linked with you guys yet. He's linked to almost every club that has speculation over an open manager's position. He's won 2 Norwegian League titles, and I believe Molde just won Norway's version of the FA Cup. He was my first choice to take over for Fergie, and I honestly wouldn't be surprised if Moyes' is just keeping his seat warm.
Excellent! Well if it was the engineer then that would at least account for why we pay these guys so much. If it was anthropologist that would account why everyone on here knows how to do it (but suggests that there is no point in ever changing the manager!) But nutritionist sounds closer to the truth and it is probably also the case that someone who is actually a proper expert in nutrition would actually get slated left right and centre by people who have learnt about it from 'nutritionists'
Hmmm, those two maybe. Unless they've grown. But you've clearly been watching the US team more closely than I have, so your opinion of Klinsmann is probably worth more than mine. Let's see how the World Cup goes. If the US can make it out of their group, I'll be impressed, and a little surprised. The problem I see isn't Klinsmann, it's the lack of talent. You can slate Dempsey all you want (a popular pastime on these boards) but he's proved he can score goals in the PL at a very impressive rate. Donovan was excellent with Everton, and the best player on the field in the round of 16 game against Germany in the world cup. It looked like the US would get better and better. But the top American players coming up are a good level below Donovan and Dempsey, Altidore being as good an example as any. Possession football (another theme not too popular on this board) was a good idea in qualification, against teams which other than Mexico are considerably less talented. Let's see how it goes against the world cup teams who have qualified from stronger groups. As I say, if it goes well, Klinsmann deserves a lot of credit.
Kind of like "football journalist", it's just a term exploited by charlatans to give validation to their work.
Maybe getting carried away . Both in mine are pretty small , little populations and arguably back waters as world history goes. Football powerhouses , well that's another one. Still taking resources into account , it stills looks like David and Goliath in my eyes.
