OLM seems to be very confident of how to handle Allam. If he is wrong we could all lose out.I am not bothered about the name change(and think it is simply a lever to get the stadium anyway). It can be changed back at a later date.
I do not know of anyone getting into a dispute with AA who has come out unscathed.I do not know OLMs credentials for being so confident when taking on AA.
If OLM is wrong and AA does chose the self destruct option I think it would be too high a price to pay for what many see as big an issue as those in the campaign.
It is constantly being assumed that OLM is representing the majority view.I have not seen the hard evidence that this is the case.I have seen massive indifference from the majority for marches.
I apologise if I have missed the evidence that OLM was personally invited to the meeting with AA but I would like to be assured that it was an invite to him personally and not an opportunistic opening to put forward the views of himself and the anti name change campaign masquerading as the view of all fans.
I think Allam is the most ruthless opponent when he wants something and just as with poker it helps if you can afford to lose heavily at times .I think OLM may be steering his followers pretty close to some dangerous waters thinking he knows his boat is unsinkable.Unfortunately if all goes wrong I will not regard OLM as someone who stood up bravely to an enemy .I will regard him as a self opinionated fool who let his ego get the better of him and we all paid the price.
Character assasinations are not my thing but I really do not want to be represented by OLM and I know many others who are quietly going about their business who do not agree with the way OLM is appearing to represent us with so much talk of the "majority" supporting the campaign.
I think AA wants us to make money or be attractive to an overseas buyer (who may regard the symbol of a tiger as much more important than we do in our culture). He has brought us unprecedented success and I prefer life in the Prem to league 2-and yes I was there(yawn)
48 years a supporter does not mean I am more or less of a fan than anyone else. The fact that OLM writes more on here than anyone else does not give him a mandate to represent me in any situation.
If there has been evidence of the invite to OLM posted on here could someone show me where it is-there really is too much traffic to work through

I'm not sure if Dr Allam is a ruthless opponent or an old men who doesn't know the difference between the name of the holding company and the name of the club

Does he genuinely think he is just shortening the name ?

You need to get out more.

You've completey misrepresented me in this post, to suggest that one person could accurately represent the differing views of 1850 posters is ridiculous. All I went to the meeting with, is the overall opinion that most on here were against a name change, some were against a name change but not prepared to campaign and some couldn't care less about any name change. As it turned out, it was irrelevant information, as AA had absolutely no interest in the numbers.

A member of the CTWD committee did almost all the talk on our behalf and a fantastic job he did too. My only real contributions were to laugh when Coventry was cited as an example of a successful stadium development, to cite Manchester as an example when AA said there were no top clubs called City, to dispute the fact that Man United only attracted American investment due to FC being dropped from their name and to suggest that any marketing expert would tell him his plan had no merit whatsoever.

I think the evidence points to a ruthless opponent.JB,NB andAP would confirm this I believe-or be incredibly circumspect in criticising AA
I would not fall for the doddery old fool act.
I would rate myself as able to see off most rivals in my own sphere of business but would not go anywhere near getting into conflict with this guy.
Add Leicester City to the list
I was told early doors to expect your rivals to take your actions very personally and possibly massively over react (even at a loss) if you upset them.
So far the drum bashers have been like England fans before every soccer tournament-we bet heavily and under estimate the competition. That is ok because they only lose their own money.OLM is possibly(and I accept only possibly) risking a lot more that belongs not just to him and the campaigners.

He is not being belligerent towards fans. He is being belligerent towards a minority protest group. The meeting gave him the opportunity to suss out how amateur this group were. Now that he has assessed the weakness of the opposition, he has gone for the jugular.

To state that he is the architect of his own downfall is just wishful thinking on your part. The campaign is dead in terms of achieving it's objectives.

I notice that OLM has now broken rank with the CWTD policy in terms of referring to Allam as an "old duffer" etc.
Tactically the CTWD organisers tried to enforce a policy of respect towards Allam because they realised that any personalised attack would not go down well with the silent majority of fans with whom CWTD eventually hoped to convert to their way of thinking.
The fact that this tactic now seems to have been abandoned shows how desperate the group have become and it's now becoming more about CWTD organisers defending their own credibility rather than the issue itself.

Tubby Spastic, it is obvious that you write that deluded **** to incite a reaction, so just **** off please.

I'm not even sure, unlike the other fans on here who are defending Allam, that you are a city fan, considering the amount of bile you have put on this board since you joined.

I haven't called Allam anything in this debate. He said we where called Hull City Tigers with the FA, The FA has come out and said our playing name is not this, personally therefore that is a lie surely? Up for debate.

The arguement is this, you keep the status quo until there is sufficient evidence and reason to change the name. If this evidence and reason exsisted AA would be shoving it down our face and saying here, here is a document with 50 pages of reason and proof that changing our name would make us five million. If he had conducted research he would be showing it and telling us it to shut us up. But he isn't, why? Because clearly there is none.

If you are after a reasoned arguement, answer this, why should we change names? What financial benefits would we gain? What would the club gain?

I doubt you will answer, and i doubt anybody supporting the arguement will answer, but please do.

Also i would quite happily watch us in the Non Leagues as Hull City AFC, as if we accept Hull Tigers whats to stop him changing our colours, removing Hull and moving us to Manchester or somewhere.

No one can answer that question City1904, because there isn't a sensible answer. Most people took their stances long ago and the ones that were wrong all along can't change their view now. If Allam came out and said he was liquidating the club tomorrow there'd be people on here spinning it to be a good thing that we're all exaggerating. Since August it's been beyond any doubt what's happening and how ****ed the situation is but some people are more scared of campaigns, protests and naughty words than anything Allam is doing. There are people on here who won't (can't) post an argument in favour of the name change but just want to argue with the stance others are taking against it. Some of them are otherwise good posters too. Some definitely don't like that other fans care more than them and as such are keen to criticise the people who make up CTWD at every opportunity. Anyone who knows the CTWD guys will know they bleed Hull City and are exactly the kind of people we need more of.

1904.In the doomsday scenario we would found a new local team in the lower leagues etc.We may also be bought by a billionaire tiger lover from abroad and be hosting Barcelona-who knows. This is the best period in which I have supported the club except 1965-66 and it is down to AA.
If it were to turn out that AA is a baddy(very few are not grateful for his efforts)-he will not be the 1st or the last to be involved. His son went to a local school and is part of us.I cannot imagine he wants to be ashamed to be seen locally.
I really hope we can try and trust him to CONTINUE moving us in the right direction.
IMO he is the best owner we have ever had-but he wants what he wants and \I think he has earned our trust.
HE HAS NOT OFFENDED ME IN HIS INTERVIEWS
I do object strongly to the way the campaign has deliberately twisted the meaning of the word Common re.City title. It was obviously meaning there are a lot of clubs called City.To latch onto stuff like this and twist it to back up an argument deserves the scorn that AA has shown to SOME of the fan base

I hate this concept that we will go down the leagues if Allam leaves, no matter what.

How do we know? We might be bought up by someone richer than Allam and go even further than he could've taken us. If he were to leave, someone out there could easily see us as a Premier League club with potential and already with a decent squad already built.

We can't say really as it's impossible to call.

If the Allams had not come to the rescue when we were about to be wound up by HMRC under Bartlett we would be lucky if we were in Conference North so nobody should underestimate how important the Allams have been and still are.

Also I would not assume that the Allams cannot get a lot of their money back.
    Imagine this scenario;
    1. We stay up this year but the football authorities do not allow Hull Tigers
    2. We are advised that all money put in has been loans and he is calling in all his loans.
    3. Club is put into Administration and fire sale is commenced and Bruce and staff leave club
    4. Those that cannot be sold and youth players compete in Prem League in 2014/15 resulting in relegation but big profit pays off chunk of debt
    5. Club is unable to exit Administration as it has no assets and no buyer and is liquidated so does not compete in Championship.
    6. Via the liquidator the Allams receive all parachute monies due to club to pay debt to Allams.
    5. Allams buy North Ferriby and move them to KC so there is some income for Stadium Company they own

I think most people will back the Allams if the choice is either accept Hull Tigers or they leave and seek to recover their money as far as possible.

You might be there in the future Bum Chin, you may not be. I have no way of knowing. What I do know is that some (not all) of the protest group seem to think they can talk for the majority. When they can't!! For the record my position as always been one of fence sitter, I am not against the name change , not for it either. As I dare say others are. When the campaign now appears to take on a more anti Allam slant (when we are told that is not what it is about) I start to worry for my club..yes....my club.
BTW my first game was 30/1/65 City V. Bristol Rovers. When was yours?

We needed him at the time. Now he's got us by the balls because we owe him. We certainly don't need him. We're making PL money but spending it on a loan to Allam. He's the only reason we're losing money. We needed that at the time of course so we can't complain about the financial situation. We certainly don't need him though. If he for some reason agreed to bugger off without taking his money back we'd be better off.

I don't need to follow anyone like a sheep I can make my own mind up. OLM has not influenced me. Those people who say AA can do whatever he likes might change their tune one day if he does something they disagree with, how far does he have to go to for some people to stop this "he saved the club he can do no wrong". If he presented himself in a professional manner and brought forward a sound business plan that predicted he could almost certainly make the club a lot of money by the change then maybe we would be more inclined to be persuaded. He has not done this, he just rants. He did interviews with RH, BBC, ITV and R5 live. He didn't say anything sensible and got more confusing with every interview. It was clear he had not taken any advice and had no plan. Its just this idea he has in his head and he will not listen to anyone else.
