Good to see Carberry doing well. Think Root needs to be protected a bit by going back down the middle order after a not so great time opening and Bairstow didn't cover himself in any glory last series to warrant a place which allows Root to go back down and Carberry a chance to impress.

Apparently Prior may be out for the first test with a calf tear. Suppose that brings Bairstow in, but I'd much sooner Prior. Final warm-up match starts Wednesday.

Won the toss and put the convicts in. Good start - 90 odd for 5, but closed on 271 - 5. Broad excellent, Finn and Rankin not so.
