You're forgetting they've got Mertens (who looked promising on Tuesday) and Mirallas as well. In fact, I'd love a cheeky bid for Mirallas in January... Everton are damn tough to get players from though.
Very tough team to beat, and probably one of the strongest physically. What's scary is they have the skills to back it up! It also highlights how **** the England team really is.
Yeah, England always seem to have 2-3 World Class players coming through but not the depth that Germany, Spain, The Netherlands, Argentina get. (Barkley, Wilshere, Sturridge - have the right quality) We need to do more with our academies. Ditch the old school British mentality towards the game and embrace technical football. The sport is soo popular here, I have no doubt we could be up there with Brazil/Spain.
problem with belgium's team is their lack of full-backs, who are vitally important in the modern game, especially attacking wise. in the team TheBear posted, both vermaelen and alderweireld are both naturally centre backs. they will get caught out by fast wingers when defending, and won't provide quality crosses when attacking.
This is going to sound a bit stupid but it has always been a fantasy of mine to see Miroslav Klose in an Arsenal kit. I realize he will never wind up at the Emirates (he's 35), but seeing as we short of a striker do you think he'd fit in with our system? Say, hypothetically, he became available from Lazio in January for for 2.5m @ 70k a week. Would you take it? Maybe this isn't a January transfer rumour but for the sake of argument, I read it on a blog somewhere.
Ramsey just signed a new contract last season, , so we have zero reason or pressure to sell him...Plus we offer European football, unlike Spurs, who ended 5th, giving Bale more of an incentive to leave for Madrid, .
Man you Spurs fans are already getting desperate, how about you go eat a dick? We have Ozil, now go cry....You sold Bale, we signed Ozil lalalalalalal.
Its started already!...lets see how you lot like it. [/QUOTE] Not sure how old you are but some years ago we were subject to constant aggesive relentless media attention, usually from Barca, for players like Henry, Hleb, Viera and more recently Cesc, the Bale saga was on a par with these and I have sympathy for Tottenham because the Spanish in particular are ****s when it come to this, but I assure you, we had it every year for about 10 years. Any 'Rambo to Madrid' rumours would only be a return to what we're used to.....
Interestingly Djourou has been getting rave reviews for his performances at Hamburg. Ive always thought he was to 'mild' to make a good centreback but if he continues like this he might push for a position in our team next Season.
hm, i was sure we'd sold him. but according to wikipedia, apparently not. i've always thought he was a very good CB. he got witch-hunted a bit in the past few years because of his poor performances at RB, but that's not his position so it's not really his fault. Could make a very solid mid-table CB, or as back-up for a team like us.
Rumours Madrid are willing to sell Benzema for as little as £20 Million. To help fund a Suarez bid. - For that price would be a good signing. He's a very different kind of striker to Giroud and looks well suited to the EPL. Also Lewnadowski has come out and said there is NO AGREEMENT between himslef and Bayern. (Now that would be a dream signing.)
Sure and Nicholas Bendter and Sanogo look like World Beaters. Benzema does at least have Top class ability. If he's no better than Giroud - that still makes him a decent second choice. If he starts playing like he used to at Lyon then.. 'happy days'. For £20 Million I think it's a good signing with the potential to be a great one.
For £20 Mil, he is a risk worth taking. The guy might not be playing well, but does have world class potential and Wenger might be the coach to finally take him to the next level.

Real Madrid were after Vieira for a few seasons and when it looked like he was about to leave he had a last minute change of heart and decided to stay.I remember the club website crashing when Vieira released a statement saying he wouldn't be leaving us for Madrid.
I have no sympathy for Spurs getting unwanted attention from Spain for their players. We had it for years and the spuds taunted us when our top players were prized away. I hope the same happens to them and that any player who looks like he might make the difference for them is relentlessly pursued until he leaves
Would be very happy to have Benzema, he's scored 72 goals for Madrid in the last 3 seasons and the start of this, not bad, not bad at all. Plus his record in Europe is top notch as well, so he could come in quite handy for next season in the competition. I doubt though that Madrid would sell him in January if they didn't sign a replacement, and I doubt Liverpool would sell Suarez in January, so if we're going to get Benzema, it'd most likely be next summer.
