I'd rather give Bendy a chance. He's being paid by the club & is decent enough. He's perfectly able to cover until Pod is back, and when he's back, there's no need for the new guy.

Unless it's on a 1 year deal i'm not interested. Bendtner can cover if we need it. I don't want us siging anymore useless deadwood type players who are only going to clog up the squad. If the club think he is any good give him a year long deal and see how he does.

    Here's a good striker:

He could bag us 15 goals a season I think.

He's not a super world class quality in the likes of Suarez, Benzema, RVP.

We already have Giroud as our 15 per season man, we need someone a lot better

Well if we're unable to get the super top quality, we're going to have to look elsewhere, this guy looks quite good, different to Giroud as well.

Yes, Bendtner is in on his last drink in the last chance saloon.

No, if we want them, we have to wait until January, 10 million should be enough for either.

Even if we struggle to get someone better than Giroud, we should at least get someone as good as him, which should be a lot easier to find. We probably need a backup striker more than anything else. I think come January, there may be more availablility than before, as it's coming to a World Cup year and players are desperate to play.

Yeah I agree with this. For me its either a World Class addition or a potentially TOP TOP class youngster.

No point getting rid of Gervinho,Chamakh etc.. then adding players who are of a simular quality.

.. who, curiously, has been named in the 25 man league squad this year.

I agree with Kyle. Any striker that comes in should really be very likely to displace Giroud rather than be a back-up.

Have to agree, it's not worth bringing in another striker who isn't up to scratch. I'm fine with a stop gap back-up option on loan, or a short deal (1 year max). But any striker being brought into the club on a proper klength contract needs to be Top quality.

And if Park is in the 25-man squad maybe he can be our main back-up rather than Bendtner? I feel like Park has a great finish but was too small and too far down the pecking order to have ever been given a chance. I wouldn't mind him being used as a back-up.

With Park/Bendtner on the books we need to bring in a top quality striker, not bring in another striker of this quality to become deadwood in 6-12 months.

He scored a great goal in the League cup when he first played. I have no idea what happened with Park, he looked decent enough, then there was the whole debacle with his national service and since then he hasn't been seen or heard of since.

Do you think Wenger has a patio at home ....... ?

I agree, we need to sign a player who is at least as good as Giroud, if not better.

The trouble is though that January is a notoriously difficult time to get top quality players as most of them are involved with their clubs in the champions league. That said, Luis Suarez won't be and January might be a good time to go back in for him.

I saw a rumour a couple of days ago that to help persuade Wenger to stay on at Arsenal and sign a new contract the board are willing to make funds available to him for a similar big money move in January, similar to this summer. Wenger obviously rates Suarez and he won't be CL tied as you say, so maybe he will be back on the radar.

Whether that rumour has any truth or not RE Wenger and a contract i have no idea, but i do think funds will be available to add quality in January.

I'm going to credit AW with genius status here, I'm sure he already has someone lined up for Jan with a deal all but done, he wouldn't have gone 3 months in the Summer placing all hopes on a loan deal for Demba Ba especially after Pod went down.
Remember too that our first bid of the Summer was for Luiz Suarez so clearly the need for a striker was known.

Also, as it's World Cup year I'm sure there'll be a bunch of unhappy players who aren't playing enough for their clubs who are fearful for places in their National team, it goes against the grain but maybe the January window will throw upo one or two bargains.
That said, most players of the calibre we're after will probably be CL cup tied
