    Thanks for the help.
I avoid Spurs players like the plague in FF. Not having Bale killed my chances last year

Did he get like a 100 assists last season or something? Lol.

Joking aside fair play though, like I've said previously I think Ozil is a class player and no doubt will strengthen if he plays like he can. I just hope that he finds trouble adjusting to the pace as I mentioned before about his fitness. Time will tell but I can't see him being a big money flop.

Not because I'm being biased as a Spurs fan but I'd say Berbatov is or at least was a top player. His first touch was the best I've seen and he managed to make Keane and Defoe look twice as good as what they were/are. Plus didn't he win golden boot in one of his seasons with Utd? Add that to one or two league titles.

Never found the right partner for him and he never came to terms with time on the bench or not being in the squad, but still a top class player who did well.

They don't need to finish above Arsenal, above you will do it.

Carrick, it might just be we'll finish above you because you are not guaranteed a top four slot are you? It's alright for you to say finish above Arsenal but both of us might finish above you.

You don't think Villa is a big name striker?!

It's easy for people to talk about overspending but what do any of us know? It's not like we paid £30mill for Titus Bramble. I'm assuming you consider Ozil to be good value for money and would say the same had you got Suarez for similar. Suarez is a good example as he's only had one season in the Premier League where he's scored regularly and we all know how easy it is in the Dutch leagues. I'm guessing people are valuing him based on him repeating last season's form. If you applied that to our two most expensive signings then that's 39 league goals between them. I know it's over simplifying just looking at goals or even stats in general but valuing a player is far more complicated to for any of us to know how valuable a player is anyway.

Personally I think £17mill for a Brazil international who excelled at the Confederations Cup seems reasonable and I don't recall seeing your fans saying Gustavo was overpriced when you were linked to him for a similar fee either.

As I've said before though, value is not hugely important to us fans but I think it's notable that the people saying we've overpaid are Arsenal fans, which is funny because some of you guys spent the second half of last season saying Bale was worth less than half of what we got for him so who cares if we've spent a couple of extra million here or there. Even if we signed Messi you'd be saying it's a risk because of his high wages :D

No team is guaranteed anything, but the one team you've all decided is going to implode won the league by a landslide last season with the same players, has a group of players (Evra, Vidic, Rio, Carrick, Rooney, Giggs, Nani etc) who have only been denied seven successive titles by one solitary point and goal difference since the end of the 2005-6 season, has not been out of the top three for over 20 years....need I go on? You can predict what you want, but you really are going out on a massive limb to say that Utd will finish 5th or lower.

When did Arsenal last finish outside the top four?

When did Utd last finish outside the top ?

Its just wishful thinking to say these clubs are going to screw up,just because we're desperate to achieve what Redknapp done and made us a top four team.

Liverpool were a Champions League fixture until recently. I'm not saying that either team dropping out is likely, but Arsenal's squad looks pretty thin and Moyes is no Ferguson, so far.
The Goons could address their depth in January and Man Utd might become a good fit for Moyes over time, but they're both unknown factors at the moment.

I accept they have issues, just we expect too much from a team that has potential. Arsenal and Utd both have proven established players and a team unit that works.

Add Liverpool into the mix and even though fans are saying we have an amazing squad, there is a fairly high chance we could finish 6th or 5th.

Getting back to the OP, we're aiming at finishing first mate. However, if we aim high there may be an echo of glory in failure. Ref: top of this page.

  16. I'm hoping the mighty Spurs juggernaut starts revving up the league, but our loss to a very weakened Arsenal makes me doubt, once again, the belief that our squad has in itself.

Given the recent past, I'm desperate for success now. But, well, there's good news and bad news. The bad news is it won't happen this year, probably. Take a look at the last time AVB had a team selected to fit his system. They were disappointing for a few months, and it cost AVB his job--no doubt partly because they needed time to learn to play together.

The good news is that the squad right now looks comparable to anyone in the PL, which hasn't been true in a long time. We''re well set up to build momentum steadily, and may finish ahead of anyone next year, and be even stronger in each of the next two or three years (unless there are unforeseen negative developments, which would hardly be a surprise.) Of our prospective starters, Lamela, Erikson, Holtby, Townsend and Rose are around 21, Vertonghen, Chadli, Sandro and Paulinho are around 24, and Soldado, Dawson and Kaboul are around 28. It's a team that should be really hard to deal with next year, and get better than that for each of the next 2-4 years.

Why do you say weakened?,seemsto me they had most of the first choice players on show, and they had to park the bus towards the end to hang on, i still think it's too early to judge.

This time he won't face open warfare from the team's senior pros.
