More to Butterfield's situation than ability I think. Shame tho, got to go down as one of the most disappointing Norwich hires overall. Never actually saw him play myself.
Must be a 'Canary Call' regular who only ever listens to Radio Norfolk commentary and then phones in as though he/she was actually at each home and away game!!!
Fantastic transfer window for us. We now have more quality and greater depth of squad, cant ask for more than that! Plus along with the excellent additions, we kept hold of Rudy! Every reason to be optimistic.
Fer makes it into the top ten buys under £10M according to this report http://bleacherreport.com/articles/1759571-the-premier-leagues-10-best-buys-under-10-million
Can't help wondering whether Butterfield was seen more as an "Investment opportunity", buy cheap, develop and sell on for a profit.... guess we will never know as the fee was undisclosed, but does seem a bit odd that he never really got any game time in the team. Some have said he had "attitude" though so maybe that was the real reason. Shame, but I think we have moved on now and lower league development players look to be mostly a thing of the past.
Redmond on the list too, so thats two out of the top ten for us! When you look at the players we have brought in this window you just have to be proud of what we have achieved and no stupid overpriced headline grabbing last minute deals either! what a management team we have now compared to those of the past.
Lol Butterfield comments on FB beef! did he actually play for us in the premier league? maybe a sub appearance
Also interesting is that when you look at some of the other players they may of come with large wage demands even if a cheap transfer, don't get that feeling with Fer and Redmond.
Don't think he did. He is nowhere near the standard of our other players in that position. It's one thing giving him a chance but the loans and other performances suggest he is not good enough. Don't want to slag him off though. Hope he does well.
michael bailey suggested earlier that butterfield was actually a lambert signing who, much like snodgrass, we were in the process of capturing when the old gaffer left and hughton was asked if we should still proceed. i think he was a risk worth taking - he did have a horrible injury but i'd seen him play a few times for barnsley and he stood head and shoulders above every other player and he had skill and technique in abundance. i know for a fact that his attitude was not appreciated around colney by management or his fellow teammates and that's why i said before the window opened i expected him to go. he didn't do himself any favours. it's a shame but even the very best managers get signings wrong from time to time. had lambert had him he may have blossomed but we'll never know.
A Norfolk based boro fan here.... It looks like theres quite a bit of business going on between our clubs... We hope Kamara will be a real success in the championship, we were after butterfield before he signed for norwich and hopefully we're taking becchio and ayala on loan come the 8th.. I think Norwich will do very well this year - in Hughton your have one of the best managers around.
There is one member of our forum who you'll do very well to convince of this Will keep an eye on Boro's scores and progress now you have two ex-canaries in harness Kei Kamara will soon endear himself to your fans
Only ONE???????????????? Having said that, one or two of the others seem to have disappeared. Perhaps they're now 'venting their spleen' on 'Canary Call' now that it is back on air!!!
i don't think becchio will go but ayala will. if becchio does go on loan it will be with a 24 hour recall
actually, that is a good point. where is carrabuh? is it me or does he only ever appear if we've lost or played poorly? i had a ding dong with vietnam yesterday but at least he fronts up.
See below: http://www.not606.com/showthread.php/226314-How-long-do-we-give-him/page12 By interesting, I assume he means when we lose badly!
oh, must have missed that - thanks fenland what a ridiculous post though - 'the idiot'... the same 'idiot' who has just given us a sensational transfer window, something carrabuh himself admits to he does come across as wanting us to fail, just to be proven right.
The way things are going I actually have no issue covering a potential injury crisis with the u21s They beat top of the table spurs 2-1 yesterday. That youth team is now blending through into the development squad and I really rate them. We have that gafiti (sorry, can't remember how to spell) who went away with us on Pre season and didn't do horrendously bad at cb and as far as attacking players go, the Murphy's, dunga, loza and Morris. Lots to draw on if we needed to cover a certain area.
