First they sign Chamakh, now Bendtner - are there any other Arsenal rejects to play up front they can sign?
I've agreed it was the same problem at times under Harry, just in a different way and I'm speaking generally, I don't see the need of getting into the nitty gritty of one game, particularly that one on which I've said my last piece on the match thread and won't be going back there either.
...I believe you got that off my photoshop thread, its there next to Robben curled up as the Firefox logo!....heh Luke!
This isn't sour grapes as I would love Ozil at Spurs but it really does smack of desperation by Arsenal. It's like they are making Wenger buy a player even though he seems like he doesn't want to. It's 10.15pm on the final day of the window and this deal still hasn't been completed and they haven't spent a penny on a player! Arsenal needed more than one player to become serious contenders. I still think with a few injuries and a tough champions league group they will struggle to mount a serious title challenge.
I can't get SSN working on my iPod tonight but Arsenal fans saying it's just been reported that it's a done deal. Fantastic player - Arsenal had a great midfield before the window - now they have an amazing one. I do question whether he's the player they needed though and I don't think he is.
That's the second window in a row that our supposed partnership with Real has bent us over. So, we give Real our best player 2 windows in a row and then Real strengthen our direct rival with an awesome player. Oh ok - no no that's completely fair and makes sense. I'm happy to agree to it. Best for all parties.
Trouble is no one else would have paid so much for him and Arsenal were desperate for a big name signing. I still stand by the fact if Giroud or Koscielny get injured then they will struggle.
The Ozil transfer takes the gloss of the window from our point of view, as for a long time it seemed like arse were getting nobody. Its annoying that we enabled that transfer by squeezing Madrid for all they had - this 'relationship' needs to end, the one thing you might expect from it would be a guarantee that they don't sell players of that quality to our closest rivals. Still, I believe we have a far better squad now than we did last year with Bale and I look forward to watching them develop together. Final word: I'd rather have Soldado, lamela, Paul, Erik, cap, chad and chiriches than Ozil, flamingo and sanogo...
I noticed Wenger's nasty smirk at the end of the game.Reminded me of those pictures of that Mayor in the USA who has been had up for molesting women!
You forgot Viviano And for Arsenals squad i'd rather our signings than yours, although i can appreciate your squad needed more work and to change the way you play due to Bale leaving so i could understand if you guys would prefer to have your signings I think Ozil will be one of the best players in the league this year. At least Giroud will get a lot of chances!
I think Ozil is overated,i accept he is agood player but he never set the world alight at Real,or excited their, supporters the way Bale has,our signings are better, and that will show once they gel
Ozil is a good signing, but i guess that Ramsey is now gonna have to become more defensive again? Ozil is a nailed on starter i would say, but does that mean that Cazorla or Wilshere will drop to the bench? If so, then they've improved but at the expense of dropping/resting one of their better players. So the net improvement is good, but not amazing.
Ozil is likely to be the best signing of the summer. He's a class player but I think it's papered over the cracks. Arsenal's first XI is as good as anyones but 1 or 2 injuries and I think they'll struggle. I think we've done the best business of the window though. 7 internationals brought in yet, smashed our transfer record 3 times and we've still made a profit due to Bale, Dempsey, Hudd, Parker and Caulker departing.
Define "best"? £42million is hell of a chunk, and Arsenal have a habit of ruining german players (podolski and per now relegated to bench warmers at international level). Personally I think Eriksen for £11mil could prove to be the best. Ozil is the biggest signing though I guess.
Lot of money but class player, highest calibre of player signed in my opinion. Agree with Eriksen though, big fan of his, think he'll be a star for us.
Mertsersacker was already 3rd choice for germany when we bought him. Podolski's performances havnt merited a place in the national team
I know they are all rubbing their cocks over the Gooner board with the signing Ozil, but I think Arsenal has had a dreadful transfer window. I think Ozil was a massive panic-buy, and that Whinger has paid well over the odds for him. We should, of course, be thankful for that, because unless Arsenal had agreed to cough up that sum I doubt Real would have been able to meet Bale's price. I no doubt that Ozil will prove to be a top player, but I don't believe he strengthens them significantly, and they'll still have to put 11 men behind the ball when they come up against strong attacking sides, like us. Still, the signing will keep Whinger in his job, at least for another season, which suits us.
