It's the biggest fee Madrid have ever got for a player, the biggest fee we have ever paid for a player and the largest transfer fee for a player bought by an english club this transfer window (the second highest ever after Torres). Who says Wenger doesn't know how to splash the cash? :P

Probably right but the other two had confirmed potential, like when Rooney came to Man U.

Yep, completely agree.
Kind of makes up for the Higuain, Villa, Jovetic, Di Maria, Cesc, Casillas, Suarez, Gustavo and Bender disappointments (did I miss anyone ?)

Petit and Vieira appeared from nowhere but there were reports linking us with Overmars and Henry.In fact we were linked to Henry when he was at Monaco before he went to Juve

Inquired about all and definite interest/discussions over Cesc, in fact the one thing that stands out for me is in signing Ozil it pretty much guarantees that Cesc won't ever come back to us....

Why did we have discussions about Fabregas when Wenger already knew he'd never leave Barcelona ?
Whilst I would agree with some of your list others on it were just rumours

For me it makes it far more likely he will come back to us. Things are set up for an easy return and if we have top quality players he is more likely to make the move back sooner. Fabregas can play deeper or further forward or even as a striker! If we get a top quality striker in now, january or early in the summer next year i can see Fabregas returning next summer.
 
I can see Fabregas coming back as a novelty crowd pleaser signing towards the end of his career, not while he's in his prime though
