MYM was superb today. Hope Pardew doesn't drop him for Taylor as Taylor has nobody but himself to blame and for me he only gets a chance now if Colo or Mbiwa get injured or suspended.

Mbiwa gave a good account of himself today. I think he's done enough to justify starting ahead of Taylor. But Pardew plays by his own rules. For the same reason you can pretty much bank on the fact that Jonas will be back in the team soon as he's fit.

I was really worried about MYM, after his performance agin Morecombe, but today he didnt put a foot wrong, played really well.. excellent positioning, calm and on top of everything. He and Colo looked immovable. Agree its up to Taylor to justify and force his way back in to the first XI, and if MYM keeps this up could be a long wait for Taylor (no bad thing)

Colo the left winger was class.
Sissoko bossed it big time.
Mapou was sublime.

Shola was ****.

Santon looking sharp.

Lets hope Jonas, Taylor and Tiote don't automatically walk back into the team when available. Maybe Pardew will realize you can actually pick players on form and do well. I'd add Cabaye to that list as well if we don't sell him.

Isn't that the way a squad should work? You lose your place for whatever reason, especially ill discipline, and a guy steps in.

MYM does not deserve to be dropped yet and Saylor will have to wait for a chance to win his place back.

There shouldn't be ANY automatic selections – you play based on the level of performances in MATCHES not just training please.

If Pardew reads that ..the concept might just make his head explode

A few more of those performances and Saylor will be watching, with only himself to blame. Saying that a few more Morecambe performances from MYM and it might be a different story. He just needs to get some consistency because he has all the tools. His passing was much better today, none of those kamikaze edge of the box giveaways.

We play better without Jonas, Tiote and Taylor. All three are liabilities imo and if they stroll back into the team it will prove truly what a pathetic **** Pardew is.

Pardew is in the last chance saloon so surely he will have taken the feedback on board from last season by playing the morons

Agree with all of this, we don't need a new winger...

More seriously, I thought all of the defence played well. We always seem to struggle with flair players like Berbatov but our def had him covered so easily he went and played centre half at one point just to get a touch. It's rare we've looked so solid without the calamity style defending that we're used to. Hopefully it's not a one-off.

Berbatov playing today was he? Didn't notice.
