You say the fans aren't backing the players.
You aren't backing the fans.
This 100%I am a fan mate..A fan that gets behind the team as best I can...However, I can't pretend that the atmosphere at home games is good these days because it is not, in fact it is ****e...I sincerely wish that this was not the case...It's easy to support a team when things are going great, but this new team of ours needs all the support they can get, which in my opinion is not forthcoming at home games..
Some of my proudest moments being a Sunderland fan has been when we have been ****e, but the fans have still been brilliant. There was a season in the late 1970's when we went about 11 games without scoring at the start of the season, but rather than get on the teams back, the supporters responded by roaring them on even more..Then all of a sudden we found that players who couldn't hit a barn door from five yards out started knocking goals in for fun, scoring four against Boro, six against West Brom and then six against West Ham in the space of three games..

ZZZZZZZzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
Yes agreed.
But surely thats quite hypocritical. You can't blame the fans for not supporting the team, then blame the fans, then expect the fans to suddenly decide to 'back the team'.
If the players need the support, having a pop at the fans isn't going to galvanise the suppor.t

Aldershot? One of my, mates **** himself on the way down there once. Some rotten sod pointed a gun at him! Can you believe that??

Those nights in the Fulwell will live in my memory for ever, absolute magic.
The supporters, who'd seen unrelenting ****e, were truly incredible.
Some of the constant whinging, on here, is sickening tbh.
If this was that season this board would be sheer poison.
Some people need to get their heads out of their arse and cheer the team, it's not that bad ffs.
Ah the Jimmy Adamson season, remember it well..
If this was that season and assuming this forum was available then I wouldn't be here typing at all.
Hmmmm . . . . . .you're not hitting many nerves tonight.
What you were doing is of no interest to anyone tbh.
No offence.
I would be out on the piss every night chasing anything vaguely female, oh and cheering on a really **** team for the effort they had put in rather than their footballing skills. (Whilst trying to avoid someone pissing down the backs of my legs in the Fulwell.)![]()
. . . . .

I can remember that too, wasn't it the Jimmy Hill season?

Never known the man to be hypocritical.
Probably your finest post, admitting that you send people to sleep.
What is it that makes you indestructible, Horlicks?
Nile Ranger there like![]()
