Whatever you think we'd have been playing in the 2nd league without Sessegnon. His winning goal at Newcastle, in the last derby, should afford him a little more respect than he's getting. It's not like we have too many, in the last few decades, who have done that. Some people, who are mocking him, should remember the likes of Bramble, Bardsley, Kilgallon and Graham.
That's like saying 1 kick in the bollocks is better than two? Whilst technically and painfully true the fact is no kicks to the nads is best of all. Comparing sess to the likes of Ji, Graham etc is no comparison at all and the fact Sess is on a reported £68k per week his return has been pitiful for the last 2 years, A pitiful return of 17 goals in 87 games is not one we will long remember or miss although to be fair, in the games he has excelled he will live long in the memory. However, if he is available for £5m, the fact not one single top club is interested tells me all I need to know. He is a very, very expensive average player.
I ment wages and fee's together in one budget, The cheaper we haggle transfer fees down the more wages we have to work init.
I just wish Sessegnon had put in the performances he was capable of more often and wore his shooting boots more often. We certainly have a less creative team in his absence and probably the starting eleven is weaker, which is never a good thing.
Bang on! Probably why he spat the dummy out, as a stated on a couple of occassions he is/was no longer the most skillfull player at the club
I get Cest's point. You seemed to agree that Sessegnon had a good game in every six, but also said that this is twice as frequent as some of the other hopeless cases we have or have had in the squad. That doesn't make it good enough. Sessegnon didn't play well enough often enough, I don't think anyone can dispute this. If Altidore and fletcher become an effective pairing, Sessegnon will quickly be forgotten.
My point is that it was obvious that he was frustrated by playing alongside knackers who didn't see his runs, didn't get into position for a pass and couldn't even control a football. I know this is a bit far fetched, but, bear with me ...... how would Messi play alongside plodders like McClean, Graham, Vaughan, Bardsley, Gardner, Seb, Colback etc? I'm surprised he could get out of ****ing bed to be honest .......... It would be like Kate Upton being marooned on a desert island with bunch of Eunuchs .... "Shall I get up and play with these 'no dicks' or toss meself off?"
Completely agree with this. He could turn a player inside out once or twice in a match but the rest of the game would shoot into row Z or not pick a pass to a player in a much better position instead trying to dribble past players & end up being dispossessed. It's sometimes just the simple things that needs to be done that don't require flare & I believe that's actually the part of his game that's missing.
I see where you are coming from too but if anyone is/was guilty of not making passes; not looking up or around and seeing the runs of others; trying to take on every player on the park and having a shot shy striking record its Sess himself. The pace and standard of the Qatar league will make him a superstar but he wont be missed by me at all.
There were times, during the most boring season I've seen in 40 years, when it was only Sessegnon who reminded me it was actually 'top class' players we were be supposed to be watching. There are Sunderland 'legends' who have done less than Sessegnon but it seems an unstoppable hate campaign has begun. The mob have spoken, so that's the end of it I suppose..........
The thing is with Sess even when he is not playing well he is still better than the other ten on the pitch. We WILL miss this guy if we sell him, and we can't replace him for 5m that's for sure.
I dont hate Sess or want him to go but he would be an impact sub only for me as he isnt good enough or consistent enough to warrant a first team place every week. However, you cant have a £68k a week impact sub thus he has to go and we need a proper play-maker and a proper striker in his place so that the team will improve.
