His agent is offering him at every club he can think off, Toivonen wanted to wait it out but now seems to realize that was a mistake. He is not content with the board and the board is not content with him. He is a bastard on the pitch and he is loathed by the public so it would only seem logical he wants out. If he can't find a club he will definitely wait out his contract and probably follow Labyad to Portugal, Benfica most likely.

Would probably be a pain in the arse anyway, CH has probably got enough on his plate.

Yeah, like all the 'hobnobs' on here for a start! Personally I think Elmander has filled the Toivonen slot, as he often does for Sweden. His performance last night convinced me, and not just the goals, his layoffs and all around team play were very classy indeed, and his interview afterwards had none of the Toivonen 'ego' about it either.

As one of the probable 'hobnobs', I agree with you totally on this one. In my opinion, Toivonen is exactly the kind of player Norwich shouldn't go for. We'll never have the resources to massage inflated egos, so our strength will always have to be team spirit, and someone like Toivonen would probably risk that completely. Messi doesn't have an ego, so I don't see why Toivonen should. Let him rot at PSV.

messi is a freak though! many players, no matter what level, have an ego. gareth bale is showing what a massive ego he has, would you not want him? grant holt had a massive ego - maybe we shouldn't have bothered with him...

we actually have a manager who i think is good at managing egos - he did a great job with one of the worst - joey barton. i certainly would have no qualms about bringing toivonen here - he's exactly the kind of player we need if we want to improve.

Did Holt really have a massive ego? All I saw was passion and commitment to our cause and frustration when it wasn't going as well as he wanted.

What about the petulance and transfer request when he was offered a two year extension but wanted three? That must count, despite being agent-influenced?

CH has actually said that they are still looking at a number of players and that Troisi is one of them. Victor Moses has been mentioned here and elsewhere and if that loan deal could be arranged, there would be no need to go for Troisi as well. I don't think that CH is interested in signing squad players, even on loan, so if Troisi were to come in, it would be because he feels he's good enough.

If Chelsea are going to let players go maybe we could offer to give Mata a few games this season to keep his fitness levels up for them?

I know it was against poor opposition but I have been very impressed with Elmander thus far and could see him getting a few more games than people imagined he would when he signed. He also comes across very positively in interview and i can see him being a real asset in the changing room.

I am still impressed with our Summer signings and i rather like that fact that we've got a couple of Swedes and Dutch players who all seem to speak excellent English and look like fitting really well into the squad. Good players with good attitudes and I am sure once we have a decent run without injuries we will do pretty well this season. An additional Belgian at CB would be a nice bonus though Mr Hughton.

Completely agree with this. I thought his signing was a good one, in that he'd add depth and an old head to help out our relatively young strikeforce, but I thought his contribution on the pitch would be limited, as for starters as he wouldn't have the fitness for a full game. Clearly he's already proven me wrong with the fitness as he appeared to manage 90 mins comfortably against Bury, and he impressed on the pitch in a multitude of ways, not least his workrate, which was exceptional.

I don't think people really understood what we were getting. Elmander is an extremely clever player and brings the kind of top-level experience we are lacking higher up the field. You would never have thought it was his first game alongside Snoddy, Pilks and Wes Immediately fitted in, read what the others were doing, and played the one-up-front role in an attacking four perfectly.

[Edit] The only thing against him is that he clearly doesn't follow us here on this board -- “I know Norwich have had a good couple of seasons at this level, I’d seen them play a couple of times because the Premier League is very big in Sweden and of course I know a few players. I had been texting and talking with Martin Olsson before and I knew Chris (Hughton) is a great manager. That made it easier because people only have good things to say about him.” Obviously completely naive and the kind that will suck up to get in the manager's good books. Give me big egos every time ......... <ok>

Re. Troisi, I don't see signing him on loan to replace Bennett need impact on bringing in others, especially if Becchio goes out either on loan or a permanent deal. <ok>

It's a shame about Becchio, not sure what happened, he never really shined as a player. I guess he couldn't step up a gear

Becchio just didn't get enough chances last season and now we have far upgraded our squad and he is at the bottom of the striking list. It's unlucky for him as he has seen Snoddy, Howson and Johnson come here and do brilliantly for the most part. I'm sure he was expecting the same to happen for him.

Hi guys - my first post here. I thought we should have snapped up Huddlestone but maybe with Holtby available on loan and Sigurdsson apparently for sale, might it be possible to do a deal with Spurs afterall?

    Welcome!

Two players I know little about I must admit, but I wouldn't be adverse to central midfield reinforcements, either someone who can pass well and help keep possession (to replace the presumably outgoing Fox), or a really creative CAM to rival Hoolahan. If either of them offer that, I'd be up for it at the right price.
