Thanks Dave though I was only half right Who used to stay in an attic room at 57 Wimpole Street, W1 when staying in London after becoming engaged to the owners daughter?
During the Boer War as a medic he carried wounded soldiers over rough terrain that vehicles could not get to called Spion Kop.
He was indeed a stretcher bearer at Spion Kop in South Africa, where a Liverpool regiment was heavily involved and after which the Spion Kop at Anfield is named. Winston Churchill was also a war reporter there. Over to you.
Sadly I'm old enough to remember them at first hand! There is a small village in Essex called Fobbing! What was it's claim to fame in the 14th Century?
O.K. Which place recorded the highest temperature difference in one day in England ? In this case from 1.1 degrees Celsius at dawn to 24.9 degrees Celsius 9 hours later.
