    During the Boer War as a medic he carried wounded soldiers over rough terrain that vehicles could not get to called Spion Kop.

    He was indeed a stretcher bearer at Spion Kop in South Africa, where a Liverpool regiment was heavily involved and after which the Spion Kop at Anfield is named. Winston Churchill was also a war reporter there. Over to you.
